Hi guys,
i have a small issue with a powerapp I am working on.
The case:
On Screen 1 the user types a "name" into a textbox which sits in a form (Form1 with the property Form.New). Form1 does not hold any other card than the name card. "name" goes to title column in SP. there is a button which submits form1 to SP list. It creates a record which holds obviously just the name as title column and all other columns are blank.
On Screen 2 I have another form (form2) that holds a lot of columns from the same SP list and a submit button that submits form 2 to the SP list with the function SubmitForm(Form2).
What I need:
I want the information from form2 go to the record that was created in form1. I tried to create a variable from the typed in name and then use "LookUp(SP-List,Title=var_name) as Item property of form2, but it always creates a new record. It doesn't seem find the record. Is there a more easy or more elegant way to do this?
I will have multiple screens in the end which all hold different forms to different columns in the same SP list ( it is a questionnaire).
I need to always save it after each section, hence the different screens but want all the information to go to one record.
Help would be greatly appreciated. I think it will be an easy fix but can' get to the solution.

- One Screen with one Form and 3 Buttons
- The Button btnBack is currently hidden as the Form is in new Mode
- btnNext.OnSelect:
SubmitForm(Form1)
- Form1.OnSuccess:
Set(
varLastRecord,
Self.LastSubmit
);
Set(varWizardStep,varWizardStep+1);
EditForm(Form1)
-Form1.OnReset:
Set(varWizardStep,0)
- First Name_Datacard1.Visibile:
If(varWizardStep = 1,true,false)
- btnNew.OnSelect:
ResetForm(Form1);
NewForm(Form1)
- btnBack.Visible:
If(varWizardStep >=2,true,false)
-btnBack.OnSelect:
Set(varWizardStep,varWizardStep-1)

Is there a way to have this a bit more flexible since in the end I am going to have multiple forms all referring to one record?
Otherwise it could get volatile if the user jumps between different parts of this questionnaire
They can go back to previous forms?
In that case you have to see if you want to save the data after each form.
If yes, then set a variable with the last saved record together with each submitform, for example put Set(varLastRecord, Self.LastSubmit) in the OnSuccess of each form and use that variable for anything but the first form.
If it's ok to save at the end, you can consider only saving one time by using Patch(datasource, item ID, Form1.Updates, Form2.Updates, etc.)
I definetly want to save it after each section/ form. The reason being that I have around 7 screens with having a form each and lets say the user reaches form 6 on screen 6, i want to give him the option to go back to screen 2 with form2 and change some of his answers and resubmit the form 2. he would go back through navigation buttons on top of each site.
@barbossa_94 You could also just use one Form and Hide/Show your datacards accordingly. So when the Form is in new mode you just show the name datacard. After the submit you initialize a variable which indicates the wizard step. Depending on that variable value you would hide/show your datacards.

@PowerRanger I actually like the idea of using one form. How would I make sure that that the form on each screen would always refer to the one record without having a gallery?
@barbossa_94 Not sure where a gallery would come into play here - or multiple screens.
As mentioned above i have multiple screens with different forms. I could aggregate the forms to one big form and then duplicate it to the different screens and hide some cards. how would I make sure though that it always edits the one record from the first form?
One form implies one screen, so you wouldn't have to refer to another form/screen anymore. Since you always start with a new record, the item for the single form would always be a new record like your Form1 now.
I would be very careful with this approach though if your form contains so many items that you need multiple screens. Hidden datacard still count towards the item count in your screen, so it would be very easy to hit limits which will deteriorate performance.
