Submitting form whilst having an error on a unique fieldis clearing all entries in the form

Good afternoon,

I have an App built on a SharePoint list, which contains a number of fields such as:

Driver Name (No longer than 24 characters)

Driver Age (Between 18-30)

Ticket Numberfield (unique values only)

Scenario:

Entering the relevant information, where the Ticket number is already in use in the list, will result in all fields wiping to blank and the data not submitting to the SharePoint list.

Why does the form not retain the information entered into the input fields but produce an error, rather than wiping all the fields and then producing an error at the top of the screen?

I've tried changing the Reset and OnFailure of the form to blank and false, which doesn't resolve the issue.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I've scoured the internet but wasn't able to find anything regarding the issue I am seeing above.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you trying to create a new record, or modify an existing record?

I think the issue here should be related with the Editform mode.

When submitting a new record, the Editform is under New mode:

When an Edit form control is in New mode, however, the Item property is ignored. The form doesn't show an existing record; instead, the values in each field match the default values of the data source with which you configured the form. The NewForm function causes a form to switch to this mode.

"

Once the error generated, the input data should be ingored (wiping out) and the Editform would then switch to New form mode.

Thanks for the response. 

The error message I am seeing is when creating a new record.

The "Ticket Number" Field is the only field with "Must be unique" validation as well as being the only field where this error occurs

In other fields, other validation methods such as "Must have a value" or "a maximum of X characters" don't reproduce this error if i input incorrect data. The error message regarding that field appears but the form retains the entered data, rather than clearing all input fields.

The form is in "New Form" mode when this error occurs. 

Apologies if i'm musunderstanding your comment, but i am not sure why this would be different for different fields with separate validation methods.

Hi @Anonymous,

I think the issue here should be that for Unique value checking, it would require the form data to be submitted first, once submitform actions finished, the form would be back in newform default state.

While for the "maximum Character", once specified, we can't specify text longer than that, and the symptom should be the same as the "Must have a value", the error checking should be occurred before sending out the form data, so the data would stay where it is.

I think using:

If(SubmitForm(YourForm),

[Navigate or continue if all good.])

In my uses this does not wipe the form but shows the error messages
