Tab List with required field

Hi,

I have a form which changes the visibility of fields based on which tab is selected from a tab list.  All is working well other than if there is a required field on a different tab than you are on, when you save it just looks like it sits there doing nothing.

So I found this forum post:

And it I then put this onto the save button:

Notify(

    First(

        Errors(

            'DataConnection',

            Form_Edit.Updates

        )

    ).Message

);

SubmitForm(Form_Edit);

But its still not doing anything.  I was hoping this would bring a message up saying that a specific field had not been filled but its not doing anything.  I also tried putting the code (minus the submit) into the OnFailure of the form.  And I also tried both the OnFailure as well as the button.   At this point I was just trying to understand why it was needed in both places on the other forum post and realised i didnt understand why it wasn't working.

Any help gratefully received how to get this working or how to gracefully tell people what field to fill in (I would love it if it changed the tab for them to show the required field or something like that but that might be asking too much!).

Let’s address the issue of required field validation in PowerApps when using a tab list.

Validation on Submit:
To validate required fields before submitting the form, you can use the Valid property of the form. If any required fields are empty, the form won’t be considered valid.
Add a button (e.g., “Save” or “Submit”) to your form.
Set the button’s OnSelect property to check if the form is valid. If it is, submit the form; otherwise, show an error message.
Here’s an example formula for your button:
If(Form_Edit.Valid, SubmitForm(Form_Edit), Notify("Please fill in all required fields.", NotificationType.Error))

Tab Navigation:
Changing tabs to show the required field might be challenging due to the dynamic nature of tab switching.
Instead, consider highlighting the required fields directly on the current tab when validation fails.
You can set the border color or background color of the required fields to indicate that they need attention.

Field Highlighting:
For each required field, set its properties (e.g., border color, background color) based on whether it’s empty or not.
Example for a text input control:
BorderColor: If(IsBlank(txtFieldName.Text), Red, Black)

User-Friendly Message:
The Notify function will display an error message if the form is not valid.
You can customize the message to instruct users to fill in the required fields.
Adjust the message as needed to provide clear guidance.
Remember that changing tabs automatically based on validation might be complex, but highlighting the required fields and showing a user-friendly message can improve the user experience.

The validation on submit sounds really useful but I am still struggling.

When things are on tabs people have a tendency to not look for the errors on other tabs.  Is there any way to get the name of the field that's erroring off the form?  At least then then message could direct someone to a specific field.
