I'm building a form in PowerApps where I have multiple text input fields where users can input goal percentages that are patched into a SharePoint list. I want these fields to display the numbers entered as percentages which I have working by modifying the following properties of the text input field:
OnChange: Set(var1,Value(DataCardValue104.Text)*100&"%")
Default: var1
However this removes my ability to display any existing values that may be present in the record stored in the list as this is accomplished using Parent.Default. My data card's default is
ThisItem.'Column Name'
Is it possible to both display an existing value from the record (if present) as a percentage AND allow the user to enter new values that will be displayed as a percentage?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Here is my column (i have multiple columns, all set the same):
Here is my goal inuput default:
Here is my goal card update property:
Here are my attempts.
Works:
Works:
Fails with error:
It's your SPL Column setting that creating this issue. change it to this
Let Power Apps handle % leave SPL Column alone 😛
Change this setting and refresh Connection
Still not working 😓. I updated two of the columns as suggested:
refreshed data connections
and republished the form to the list.
Test values entered:
Same error:
changing those column settings also means the percentages don't show as percentages in the list view anymore. It isn't the end of the world but it would be nice if I could have my cake and eat it too haha.
I'm running out from ideas here it's hard when i't working at my side and I can't replicate this behaviour 😞
can You show me how DataCardsValue104.Text is set up just screen like below will do
Yeah unfortunately it appears to be setup the same as yours:
I will try to recreate the form from scratch and see if I can figure it out.
EDIT: Could it be my patch code maybe?
Patch('List Name', ThisItem,
{'COlumn Name': Value(DataCardValue104.Text),
'COlumn Name1': Value(DataCardValue105.Text),
'COlumn Name2': Value(DataCardValue107.Text),
'COlumn Name3': Value(DataCardValue100.Text),
'COlumn Name4': Value(DataCardValue103.Text),
'COlumn Name5': Value(DataCardValue102.Text),
'COlumn Name6': Value(DataCardValue108.Text),
'COlumn Name7': Value(DataCardValue98.Text)
})
Heh, 100% it's the patch 🙂
use SubmitForm(FormName) rather patch 🙂
If You want to use a Patch the formula we placed in Update needs to be inserted next to Column Name: right now you bypassing the Update property so the formula does not work at all.
To use this formula with Patch You need to implement this in this way :
Patch('List Name', ThisItem,
{'COlumn Name': If(Int(DataCardValue104.Text),Value(DataCardValue104.Text)/100,Value(DataCardValue104.Text)),
'COlumn Name1': Value(DataCardValue105.Text),
'COlumn Name2': Value(DataCardValue107.Text),
'COlumn Name3': Value(DataCardValue100.Text),
'COlumn Name4': Value(DataCardValue103.Text),
'COlumn Name5': Value(DataCardValue102.Text),
'COlumn Name6': Value(DataCardValue108.Text),
'COlumn Name7': Value(DataCardValue98.Text)
})
To use this formula with Patch You need to implement this in this way :
Patch('List Name', ThisItem,
{'COlumn Name': If(Int(DataCardValue104.Text),Value(DataCardValue104.Text)/100,Value(DataCardValue104.Text)),
'COlumn Name1': Value(DataCardValue105.Text),
'COlumn Name2': Value(DataCardValue107.Text),
'COlumn Name3': Value(DataCardValue100.Text),
'COlumn Name4': Value(DataCardValue103.Text),
'COlumn Name5': Value(DataCardValue102.Text),
'COlumn Name6': Value(DataCardValue108.Text),
'COlumn Name7': Value(DataCardValue98.Text)
})
Ok, Forgive my ignorance as I'm still a powerapps noob. I thought you had to use patch to update a list that the form isn't linked to? If I can just call SubmitForm that's way easier haha.
So I have two lists, list A and list B. I went to integrate, customize form with powerapps on List B and customized the form. As part of list B's form I also needed to update some columns on list A.
I have two separate forms under one screen, one with the values I want to update in list B and the other with values I want to update from list A as powerapps wouldn't let me put both in the same form.
