The method 'DirectReports' has an invalid value for parameter 'userId'

I see a few threads on this, but can't see a solution. I'm playing around with the staff search example in PowerApps, but when I search for certain people (e.g. myself) I get this error when the info loads.

 

The service returned an error: Office365Users!DirectReports: The method 'DirectReports' has an invalid value for parameter 'userId'.

 

Myself, I only have 2 direct reports. Both are current, active users with active accounts.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Could you show me the function you are using?


I tried to reproduce the issue on my side. However, when I use both the Office365.SearchUser function and Office365.DirectReport function, I don’t get the error message you mentioned.


I referred to this documentation about Office 365 users:

I'm just using the example that came supplied with our Office 365 added as a data source. what function that is, i don't know. this is my first attempt at using PowerApps.

Just to let you know I have exactly the same issue when using the Org Browser template. I reported this to Microsoft and they informed me that there was a bug in the template and a new version of the template would be published to the global catalogue. I was then informed that the template had been updated but I am still experiencing the same issue which is frustrating as I have modified the template and am ready to deploy it apart from removing this error message when the app first launches. 

 

These are the two functions that is seems to be complaining about

Thanks, hopefully it gets addressed. It's a handy template to teach with.

I notice that in our testing that it gives errors for people that have no manager, so every time on ours, that I look up the CEO, it gives an error. In the current state while it's good to learn from, it isn't fit to deploy as a resource for staff.

Well I am pleased to say that Microsoft have come up with a fix to this issue. Here are the details which were emailed to me this morning. I have applied these and confirm that the error message is no longer displayed. I can now deploy the app to our employees Smiley Very Happy

for me the edits did make the error go away but broke other functionality such as looking up the details of a person such as phone number, etc. I just used the new template and it all works well, then I killed the old app. This was 12-9-2020 and I can confirm their new template works just fine

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
