Trouble with Lookups

Hi,

I am going round in circles and found one way to solve my problem but could lead to errors so any advice on better solution would be appreciated.  I am trying to add some role based security on my app by disabling a button for certain users.  I am trying to compare  their email address with their email address held on a dataverse table.  There is also a record in this table of their role which is a choice of roles.  Only certain roles can access button.  I was struggling to compare their email with the email in the table and then to get record of their role so I created a drop-down with roles and hidden this so the user can not see or access the drop-down to change it.  There must be a better way so any advice would be gratefully received.

 My code is:

If(LookUp(CompanyRoles, EmailAddress = User().Email).Name = Lookup(CompanyRoles, Role = dpdRole.Selected.Value).Name, DisplayMode.Edit, DisplayMode.Disabled)

It seems the choice is a table so I don’t know how to reference the record in the Role choice.

Hi @GreenFrog ,

You can try creating a collection for user roles on the OnStart of your app and then have the app check those user roles to determine visibility.

For the OnStart property of the app:

ClearCollect(
    colUserRoles,
    Filter(
        CompanyRoles,
        EmailAddress = User().Email
    )
);

Then you can modify the 'DisplayMode' of the button to check if the current user is allowed:

If(
    CountIf(
        colUserRoles,
        Role in ["AllowedRole1", "AllowedRole2"] // Replace with actual roles allowed to access the button
    ) > 0,
    DisplayMode.Edit,
    DisplayMode.Disabled
)
