Troubles with creating an app showing status flow with custom statuses

Hello,

I am trying to create an app that will show status flow using custom statuses, but there are 2 obstacles that stops me from finishing it.

The concept of the app is the following:

There are 3 boxes on the screen: Current status (dropdown, with displaymode View), Next status( simple dropdown, where user can choose next status) and Previous status (a text box that should show prev. status from current status). The data source for this is excel table (see photo)

For further understanding i will put here all names of dropdowns and textbox

Current status: DropDown2

Next status: DropDown2_1

Previous status: TextInput1

So the starting point is Current status A. The only options for "Next status" are A1 and A2. If user select A1, then A1 moves to Current status and in Next status there are only options related to A1 status: A1.1, A1.2, A1.3. And so on.

In order to create such flow I've created a variable on OnVisible property of the screen 

Set(currentStatus,Dropdown2.Selected.Result);UpdateContext({currentStatus:Dropdown2.Selected.Result})

 and added this variable to Default property of the Current status (dropdown2).

Then I added a button with the following function on OnSelect property 

UpdateContext({currentStatus:Dropdown2_1.Selected.Result})

This is perfectly synergize Current status and Next status fields.

But at this point i am totally stuck, because what I need to do further is:

1) To create a formula that will transfer old status from Current status filed to Previous status filed.

2) Somehow add a formula that will save all the changes and when the user will reopen the app, it will show actual status that was changed on previous app opening.

The problem here is getting the current status on "OnVisible" screen property. Dropdown may not be loaded and value not set. So, we have to get the value from the datasource like

Set(currentStatus,LookUp(Datasource,ID=SelectedId).StatusColumnName);

2. We don't need to use Set and UpdateContext. Set is a global variable that can be used in multiple screens and UpdateContext is specific to the current screen

Set(currentStatus,Dropdown2.Selected.Result);

UpdateContext({currentStatus:Dropdown2.Selected.Result})

Sorry for late reply

I may not understood you correctly, but before creating variable for the current status I've added to Items property filter and distinct functions for current and next status fields.

For Current status it look like this

Distinct(Table2, 'Current Status')

and for next status filed like this

Distinct(Filter(Table2, Dropdown2.Selected.Result = 'Current Status'), 'Next Status')

So these functions together with created variable performs exactly as I wanted: Next status shows only options related to specific chose in current status and Submit button moves value from next status to current status field.

As for your 2nd statement: I've re-read documentations related to variable and now understood the difference. Thank you for this remark!

Nevertheless, I still cannot find any workable solution for 2 questions mentioned in main post.
