Hello --
I'm fairly new to Power Apps and I'm working on a simple app to allow someone to submit inspection reports.
The Items property of my edit form (EditForm1) is BrowseGallery1.Selected. The data source for EditForm1 is a Sharepoint list called 'Plant Reviews.'
The only datacard in my form that doesn't work contains a combo box called DataCardValue22. This combo box pulls its data from another Sharepoint list called Programs. The items property for the combo box is 'Programs'.Title. The combo box works fine, but when I submit the form the data selected in the DataCardValue22 combo box is not written to my data source.
The Update property of the data card giving me trouble is DataCardValue22.Selected.Value. I'm seeing an error message for that property that says "Name isn't valid. This identifier isn't recognized. This error appears most commonly when a formula refers to something that no longer exists." I can't identify anything in the formulas for this data card that are no longer valid.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Hi @T_A_M,
Try replacing the combobox with a dropdown and then set the Update property to Dropdown1.Selected.Value
@T_A_M dont remove text control when you add that datacard. After adding datacard just change datacard type to Allowed Values
image 1 add data card and expand there
Click on Arrow against Edit text and select Allowed Values
Now you can set items property of that to whatever you want.
Try adding value and submitting now and check.
Thank You
Hi @T_A_M ,
A form can only be connected to one datasource. In this case the form is trying to upload the data from Programs into the 'Plant Reviews' data source, but since the corresponding column doesn't exist there, you get an error.
I know that combo boxes and dropdowns are supposed to be able to pull their lists from a separate data source, and then the chosen item is written to the form's main data source. Any idea how I can accomplish this in my case?
@T_A_M Are you selecting multiple values or single value with combo box?
Please try to set Update property of combo box to DataCardValue22.Selected.Title
What is the column type in SharePoint for DataCardValue22?
Thank You
When I set the update property of my data card to DataCardValue22.Selected.Title, I get an error saying "The property on this control expects Record values. The rule produces Text values which are incompatible."
The column in my 'Programs' Sharepoint list that is connected to the DataCardValue22 combo box is a "single line of text" type column.
Hi @T_A_M ,
Remove the .Title:
DataCardValue22.Selected
@T_A_M When adding Programs column datacard in PowerApps have you done any changes? Why it is turned to combo box? and if it is single line of text then why it expects record.
Please check or remove that datacard and re add again to check. Please take care of any other code customization on that datacard.
I think something is missing.
Thank You
When I remove the .Title the error codes go away, but when I submit the form the data card in question still does not write anything to my 'Plant Reviews' data source.
The column I'm trying to write to in my 'Plant Reviews' Sharepoint list is a single line of text, but when I added the data card I needed to remove the text input control that comes in automatically and replaced it with a combo box so that I can pull the items in the combo box list from my 'Programs' Sharepoint list.
Hi @T_A_M,
Try replacing the combobox with a dropdown and then set the Update property to Dropdown1.Selected.Value
