Using a Form connected to 1 table but needing to display description from another table

Hello,

I've got a Form connected to a table in a Canvas App. This table only has numerical data. 

I've got a second table which has the number, description and Variable.

I'd like for the dropdown which is an allowed values to display the number and description from the second table based off the Variable column. Is this possible?

 In this case I'd like the dropdown field to display: 8 None

Hey I replaced the code and it still shows the 1-Medicaid instead of the 8-None. It also has a warning: Incompatible types for comparison. These types can't be compared: Text, Number

I see I forgot to select the Description column:

Parent.Default & " - " & LookUp(CODES, Number = Parent.Default).Description

Hey there...I made the change but nothing changed. I still have the warning about text, number and the dropdown still shows 1-Medicaid

Can you please share a screenshot of the formula in the formula bar with the red squiggly lines on them? There must be something we're missing, but I don't know what and I hope this will give an indication.

In test I did this solution worked like a charm, so we just need to find what's different in your case.

Absolutely but there are no squiggly lines...

I see the Default property formula in your screenshot ends with .Number, but it should be .Description:

Parent.Default & " - " & LookUp(CODES, Number = Parent.Default).Description

Oh sorry about that...I had tried all my column options to see if any of them made a difference and forgot to change it back to .Description before I took the screen shot.  Changing it to .Description makes no difference as I still don't have 8-None and the warning about the Text, Number is still showing up.

It seems the column doesn't have the same type in both tables, but that shouldn't necessarily be an issue. Let's try to resolve the warning though:

Can you try the below two options for the Default property of the DropDown and share which one resolves the warning:

Parent.Default & " - " & LookUp(CODES, Value(Number) = Parent.Default).Description

Parent.Default & " - " & LookUp(CODES, Number = Value(Parent.Default)).Description

The first option now gives me a delegation warning. The second option still gives me the Incompatible types warning.

So it seems the Number column in CODES is actually a Text type. Did the formula give you a different result when it comes to the selected item in the dropdown though?
