Validation of Input field onSelect

Hi All,

I am trying to validate a data entry in an input field (Input1) dynamically based on the users selection of another field (Dropdown1) on the form.

I am not able to create a dynamic Regular Expression as PowerApps doesn't support building Regex expressions on the fly, so I have added a regular expression that covers all scenarios on Input1.

What I would like to do is when the user is submits the form (onSelect) check that Input1 contains the correct information. IE: The Country code matches the country selected in the form.

(4 Alphabetic Characters) (Country Code) (2 Alphanumeric or 5 Alphanumeric Characters)

This is my Regex:

The dynamic part of the check is the country code which needs to be the same as the country code provided when the user selects a country in dropdown1.

I hope this makes sense...

In the ideal world I would like to do this on the Input1 field for the onChange property... But it doesn't work!

You could just put Regex data into table and use IsBlank to check if user input is in table.

I was thinking of doing something like this...

I don't think you have understood what I need to validate...

I do not want to check if countryCode=txtSwift.Text, it is much more complex than that...

I want to check if the txtSwift.Txt contains the CountryCode in a specific position within the text string as I explained in the original post.

(4 Alphabetic Characters) (2 Character CountryCode) (2 Alphanumeric or 5 Alphanumeric Characters)

EG:

If Dropdown1 = United Kingdom

then check the CountryCode is UK in the following position within txtSwift.Text

ABCDUK1D

or

If Dropdown1 = United States

then check the CountryCode is US in the following position within txtSwift.Text

ACDKUS5C22D

I would imagine it should be something like this on the OnSelect button?

We're on the right path... 🙂

But it isn't:

Because it is ONLY 8 or 11 characters, not less than 11 (IE: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9 and 10 characters are NOT valid.)

This is perfect for the first 4 characters (All letters)

Then we need to check if the selected Country in Dropdown1 matches the CountryCode in txtSwift. (5th and 6th Character only)

What I have written in my first response was valid it was more about idea than actual copy and paste code. You have to adjust localization comas yourself. This is tested and working solution. This is not clean or optimized code the same thing can be achieved with much less code using just a IsMatch pattern.

@LukeShive  I appreciate the help and input! I am not a developer and I guess this is just above my capabilities. Despite trying to correct the localisation comas this code isn't working for me. I guess I will just have to find a simpler solution. It would be so much easier if you could build regex statements on the fly.
