Visibility control in MenuItems

Good day,

Is it possible to limit the amount of items in a Menu based on the persons Emailadres ?

I've done something similar based on specific tiles but when I open my Menu all of the items are still in there but how do I incorporate a check based on Emailadres to determine if a person can see a certain item ?

Do you have another table that stores the MenuIDs that are visible based on email address address? If so, you can wrap a call to Filter around your call to Table, and filter the menu items based on the email address of the current user.

To add to timl, you could also add another property to your menu items, like this:

  {
        MenuLabel: "Project H"; 
        MenuIcon: Icon.DetailList; 
        MenuScreenNavigate: 'Project H';
        MenuID:9;
        SubMenu: Table();
        isVisible: varAdmin (or your condition here)
    }

Then use that property on the Visible() property of your gallery's button (or whatever you want to show/hide). Then to keep it neat, SortByColumns() on isVisible (and whatever other column) so that the not visible ones are sorted to the bottom, and the user doesn't see random gaps in the gallery.

I assume you are displaying your Menu in a gallery

App OnStart (or screen OnVisible)

If(

  User().Email = “abc@gmail.com”,

  Set( vMenu, 2),

  Set( vMenu, 999)

)

Add an extra element to each Menu record called MenuChk. Set MenuChk to

- 1 for the first 3 records

- 2 for the next 2

- 3 for the next 2, and

- 4 for the last 2

On your gallery, Items becomes

Filter( Menu, MenuChk <= vMenu)

This is just one approach and I’ve made a lot of assumptions but hopefully you get the idea.

You could test the above by entering your email address in the App OnStart code.

@zmorek I've added the IsVisible property to the menuitems but nothing changes it seems. 

I'm not sure what you mean with:

Ive added in the OnStart of the App a few groups based on emailadresses:

First I've .....
Set(varUserEmail;User().Email);;

Set(varProjectTeamA;"email A; email B; email C");;
Set(varProjectTeamB;"email D; email E; email F");;
Set(varProjectTeamC;"email G; email H; email I")

And then in the Visible property of the menu items I've set the formula to:
varProjectTeamA Or varProjectTeamB

But when I set more then 1 groep or a variable it returns an error

@timl I'm not sure what you mean but I do not have a different table to store the MenuID's I believe.

This is one of those times where you find something on YouTube and implement it and as long as it works its fine but im not sure what those MenuID's do (if they do anthing)

If you want/can explain your option further (maybe with some pictures) it would be helpfull

@EddieE I'm not sure what you are saying but Yes, my menu is based on a gallery.

In my APP -- OnStart funtion I've set the formula:

Set(varUserEmail;User()Email);;
Set(varProjectTeamA;"Email A; Email B; Email C");;
Set(varProjectTeamB;"Email D; Email E; Email F")

In the MenuItems I've added an extra condition based on the input from @zmorek but the IsVisible part of the MenuItems doesn't seem to work if you enter more then 1 variable, even if I just use 1 group it still doesn't work

I've used this before, it'll work fine, the problem with how you have it currently is that you're not doing anything by just putting the variable there, you'd want something like this:

I'm missing something @zmorek Ive done exactly what you have done but by simple adding the:

IsVisible: varUserEmail in varProjectTeamA

it returns an error saying it is expecting an operator.

You said I needed to put something on the Visible property of the Menu but what is it ?

I've recreated it on my side and am not getting an error - where are you seeing the error message? I had some syntax errors on this earlier, it should have been this I think:

Set(varUserEmail; User().Email);;
Set(varProjectTeamA; ["EmailA";"EmailB";"EmailC"]);;
Set(varProjectTeamB; ["EmailZ";"EmailX";"EmailY"])

You'll end up putting the IsVisible property on whatever it is in your gallery's Visible() property (I don't know what's in your gallery, maybe a button?)
