Greetings everyone, my name is Fotis.
I did my best trying to create a Visitor Management App from scratch.
The inspiration came from a video @cha_cha posted on YouTube, which I found amazing!!
Link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj3PIgTe00w&t=892s&ab_channel=BisTekSpace
Tried to tweak a few things here and there but the idea is the same.
I've managed to actually make almost everything working, but I have a huge issue with the Button that is used to Patch a specific column in Sharepoint, in order to check out the visitors. I've tried to copy paste the code (ofcourse the changes to the name of sharepoint lists etc where changed to mine), but it doesn't seem to work).
I would love it if the community can help me with that!
Thanks in advance.
Fotis

No need to say sorry - we are here to help 😉
Before {'Checked-Out'...} you will need an additional bracket and a semi colon - after 'Checked-Out' you will need to add a colon :. (See adjustments in red)
It currently looks as follows:
)
{'Checked-Out' Now()}
)
You will need:
));
{'Checked-Out': Now()}
}
Can you please provide more details of what issues you are facing ?
Hello @Anonymous thank you for the fast reply.
What I want to do is to edit the Checked-Out Column in Sharepoint (Picture Below) :
By clicking this Button :
But in order to do that, as the first post said (based on the video), I have to edit the OnSelect command of the Button and to Patch the List and specificaly the Checked-Out column, in order to change the data to the Checked-Out time.
I don't know if that helps, let me know if you need further explanation.
Kind regards.
Hi @FoHa,
I just watched the video - your formula will be similar to:
Patch(
ListName,
LookUp(
ListName,
Title = DropDownName.Selected.Value && IsBlank('Checked-Out')
),
{'Checked-Out': Now()}
)
Please adjust ListName to the correct name and double check the column names. (I expect the name to be saved as text in the Title column)
If this solves your question, would you be so kind as to accept it as a solution.
Thanks!
Hi @FoHa , Try this one as I'm also thinking about the same and let us know if that helps
Hello @LaurensM and thank you for taking the time to actually viewing the video and writing me the code.
After I made the adjustments to the buttons code I get this :
For some reason after the first ListName which in this case is VisitorsEntry, code stops working.
Kind regards
Hi @FoHa,
It looks like you are using the different syntax - which is dependent on your language settings. This is not an issue but you will have to replace the commas with a semicolon ;
Could you give that a try?
I hope this helps!
Hello @LaurensM , thank you for your reply, I really appreciate your help!
You were right, we have progress, but it doesn't update the Check-Out column.
Do you think I made a mistake somewhere in the List?
Kind regards
Ok that issue is fixed, prefect.
In the screenshot we have 2 issues:
Here you might have to change this to Dropdown1.Selected.Result (or Dropdown1.Selected.ColumnName - with ColumnName refering to the column that stores those names). Alternatively, you could type out Dropdown1.Selected. manually and see what Power Apps suggests.
Try and replace && IsBlank('Checked-Out') with && 'Checked-Out' = Blank()
I hope this helps!
Slowly but steady @LaurensM @Anonymous , we're getting there it seems 😄
The error tells me that it finds a CurlyOpen but it should've found ParenClose.
Kind regards!
