What does mean ForAll( ) in this case?

Hi, can you please explain what do mean these lines of code? What do they return? I can not return them into text field, because I assume that it has data type array, not string. This is only part part of code:

ForAll(
     Split (
             ThisItem.'PO attached',
              ";"
              ), 
           {Result: ThisRecord.Value}
)
                       

I understand that split returns substrings from string, but what does mean: {Result: ThisRecord.Value} as a second argument of ForAll( )?

This is is entire code:

First(	
      ForAll(
     	     Split (
             	     ThisItem.'PO attached',
              	      ";"
              	), 
           	{Result: ThisRecord.Value}
	)
   ).Result

Again I understand, that code return first substring from entire string, I just can not understand some lines of code.

Hi @Aleksandra1,

1). ForAll() operates on all the records from a table and return a table type value.

In the first formula, the Split() retursn a Result table value that the FormAll() operates on. That's why you could not return them into text field because it is table value.

2). The Split() Splits a text string into a table of substrings instead of substrings

3). {Result: ThisRecord.Value} means the ForAll() will return a single column named Result rather than the original Value column. If you don't specify the Result, the ForAll() will return a Value clumn.

When the Power Apps team made changes to the functions of Distinct and Split, they wrapped all existing code for all Apps in a ForAll( YourThing, {Result: ThisRecord.Value}) so that the code maintained the same functionality as before - previously Distinct and Split returned a column called Result, however they now return a column called Value - so that code was added to yours to maintain any references to result.

So you can take your existing code:

First(	
      ForAll(
     	     Split (
             	     ThisItem.'PO attached',
              	      ";"
              	), 
           	{Result: ThisRecord.Value}
	)
   ).Result

And we can return it to a simpler form:

First(	
   Split(
      ThisItem.'PO attached',
      ";"
   )
).Value

I hope this helps to explain why this code suddenly appeared in your code!

Yes, in this case its just creating a new table with Value now being called Result (to maintain any previous code that referred to Result)

Hello, I tried to use your piece of code, but in another combobox, and it doesn't work, maybe you know why

I found out that because I have created second combobox there is name Value1 instead of Value... but it is still doesn't work
