What does this mean? You are using a dev plan on an app that is not in a developer environment. This is not supported, and the app will stop working on 11/30/2023

Hi,

I've been using power apps for a couple of months now and this is the first time that I have encountered this message.

"You are using a dev plan on an app that is not in a developer environment. This is not supported, and the app will stop working on 11/30/2023"

Do anyone have any idea what this means? I am using Power Apps Canvas App with Microsoft Dataverse as the Database and I publish the apps on teams.

The message disappeared from all environments when I unassigned the "Microsoft Power Apps for Developer" license. The most important App for us is in the default environment ( I know should be in a production environment) which I do not need the Power Apps for Developers license because I am System administrator and System  Customizer, so I can change the apps I have created .

For a Microsoft professional/representative who sees this thread....

1. If this message is based on the app owner and I remove myself as a co-owner, will this break all the actions within my app/flows that are related to myself as a connection/connection reference? Are there any other considerations to keep in mind as we attempt to navigate the licensing rules? 

2. Could you provide a link in the message to some specific resources with actionable steps we should take to figure out why we are getting this message and then what we need to do in each instance in order to fix what the connection issues? Can you provide more details on what was flagged on your end to help us figure out why we got the message?

I am sorry to disturb you, did you get any solution of this message, I have same issue when I open the Apps which has ever been used 2 years. Because my Apps have been developed for 2 years, all the production data are recorded into. I can't imagine that it will stop work.

The Dev license is literally for Development (and learning). If you are properly licensed for your production app, removing the dev license should break nothing.

I see this warning on apps published by  colleagues, yet they do not see it on their own apps or when they open apps developed by myself. 

I do have a development environment they do not. Perhaps not an answer but a smoking gun maybe?

Would still like something official from MS...

Hi @Geckojas - I do not want to remove my dev environment, but am worried if EVERY connection in every app/flow that I have built over the past 2 years need to be under the ownership of our service account (which is the premium owner) as opposed to myself? Or, is it only the premium connectors? Or, is it something else entirely causing the message, like the overall ownership of the app? I am employed at a large organization so have pinged our central IT department to ask for clarification on how to fix this from Microsoft, but I've been told it takes months to get a reply - and according to the message, there isn't that much time to resolve. I guess that's where the real concern for me comes from.

As all of these plans and options MS create these days are so convoluted, is there a "simple" version where A) a user can develop, test, and deploy an App of their own making for their own use (no premium connectors) under a MS 365 License without additional cost (perhaps only with some limits on, "requests", "Flow" stuff)?

Or is the next step up a PoweApss Premium license, 20 bucks model essentially?

I agree with you of so convoluted plans by MS. The related rules from MS is always so complex. I have submit this question to my company IT and wish she can get contact with MS to check this issue.

You should be able to do everything you need to do with a per-app plan, the single app license is only about £4 (or your local equivalent)
