Please help me expand my PowerApp. (this is rather long)
I have a Power App with 4 data sources each in its own collection.
I have them in 4 separate galleries (each with its own color) that are controlled by the same set of tools (typical search box, drop down filters, check box filter, sort, reset).
I want a toggle on that page to either display the galleries as they are, 4 separate ones filtered and sorted which ever way they are. And then the toggle will switch to a display of almost the same contents of the 4 galleries in 1 "master" gallery where I will sense which gallery the record comes from and colorize it appropriately.
In the "master" gallery display I will show the fields that they have in common (a small set of meta data fields from each) and then I want to have the rest of the fields in a single, field called "BalanceOfFields" that is a table of the rest of the fields (with the column names and values for that record from the collection/data source). So each record will a table with 1 row of Column Name and Value pairs for each of the remaining fields.
So now, in addition to the original 4 data sources, for each there will be another collection comprised of the data source name, some metadata fields and a table named "BalanceOfFields"
The reason for the BalanceOfFields field is that I want them to be in the same collection/gallery and I haven't seen one with disparate fields yet.
When the user goes to the detail page from the "master" gallery, I want to show the metadata fields and then the table beneath.
I've got it working with 4 galleries, I need to know the best way to accomplish what I'm trying to do.
So, again, the collection for the large gallery would look something like this column-wise:
DSName, Meta1, Meta2, Meta3, ... Meta9, BalanceOfFields
Of course BalanceOfFields would vary depending on datasource
All of this is Read Only with just showing the detail pages (no editing, it's just a search engine).
What I'm looking for is the best way to create the uniform records with the BalanceOfFields column in a gallery. I'm assuming I need to make it, its own collection from the original collections... or is there a better way?
pseudo code follows
ClearCollect(myDS1Collection, AddColumns(...RenameColumns..., etc...));
ClearCollect(myDS2Collection, AddColumns(...RenameColumns..., etc...));
ClearCollect(myDS3Collection, AddColumns(...RenameColumns..., etc...));
ClearCollect(myDS4Collection, AddColumns(...RenameColumns..., etc...));
ClearCollect(myMasterCollection, AddColumn("BalanceOfFields", DropColumns(myDS1Collection, blah blah blah)));
Collect(myMasterCollection, AddColumn("BalanceOfFields", DropColumns(myDS2Collection, blah blah blah));
Collect(myMasterCollection, AddColumn("BalanceOfFields", DropColumns(myDS3Collection, blah blah blah));
Collect(myMasterCollection, AddColumn("BalanceOfFields", DropColumns(myDS4Collection, blah blah blah));
I know the above syntax is incorrect I'm just trying to give you the idea of what I'm trying to do.
- take the original collection,
- Keep the DSName and Metadata fields, Drop the rest of the fields into a table and add it back in as a column named "BalanceOfFields".
Any ideas of how I can do this are appreciated. Or, if I'm way off base as to my approach, suggestions are welcome.
Cheers and thanks.
