filter gallery help

Hello All,

i have two lists, one requests and one items.

I am trying to apply a filter to only give items applicable to the request [matching the RequestID  against the list 2 ID.

I have tried the following but returns no records and i have no errors.

i want to use the collection "GridDataCol' within the gallery.

1. - ClearCollect(GridDataCol,Filter(List1,RequestID.Value = SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID))

2 - ClearCollect(GridDataCol,Filter(List1,RequestID.Value = List2,ID))

I suspect RequestID.Value returns a Text value ? If so

ClearCollect(
   GridDataCol,
   Filter(
      List1,
      Value(RequestID.Value) = SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID
   )
)

If RequestID is a number

ClearCollect(
   GridDataCol,
   Filter(
      List1,
      RequestID = SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID
   )
)

@WarrenBelz  - Thank you for the support, much appreciated.

Request ID is a number but i still can't get any values for the collection - see below screen shot - any other ideas?

Could i avoid using the collection and instead filter within the gallery or is collection the best approach? [ i would need to patch back to the list so not sure what best approach is. thank you.

Hi @egornua1 ,

If RequestID is a number in List1 (I assume the Child list) reflecting the ID of the Parent list being queried, then the correct query is

Filter(
   List1,
   RequestID = SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID
)

The next question is where you are running the collection as Integrated Forms do not run OnStart or Screen OnVisible when a new record is selected unless the user refreshes the browser. So to your question - yes the code above should work as the Items of a gallery.

on the screen within "OnVisible"  i have the formula below

ClearCollect(GridDataCol,Filter(WarehouseSubmissionsItems,RequestIDNumber = SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID))

Then within the gallery "items", i have GridDataCol. i then input some fields within the gallery to try build the grid.

Then there is your problem as I mentioned - Screen OnVisible does not run after the initial record selection in an Integrated App when changing records unless the user refreshes the browser every time. You will note that the last command on most actions is RequestHide() and Power Apps does just that - hides the screen, but keeps it open in the background for performance reasons. The only value you can rely on changing is SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID, so as I mentioned earlier, Gallery Items of 

Filter(
   WarehouseSubmissionsItems,
   RequestIDNumber = SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID
)

should do the job for you.

yes see below. the top gallery is based on the collection formula and the bottom gallery is based on the filter as in your last post.

two more question if you don't mind

1 - can i patch those fields back into the list via a button?

2 - i also have a gallery showing attachments - i am seeing similar behaviour when i move between items, it either doesn't always load or it loads the previous items pictures. could you point me in the right direction to trouble shoot that piece?

Hi @egornua1 ,

Yes you can Patch anything back to any connect SharePoint list (it does not need to be the "primary" one connected to the app), If the button was in the gallery, you would refer to ThisItem.YourFieldName for the source.

@WarrenBelz - struggling on the patch piece to sharepoint - would like a collection and save changes via a button. i tried the below.

Screen - Onvisible -ClearCollect(GridColData,WarehouseSubmissionsItems)

i have a save button on the screen - "On Select" - Patch(GridColData,{Title:'Item.txt','Health Mark':'HealthMark.txt'}).

I have no errors in PApps but when using the form in sharepoint i get an error

"The data source supplied to the function is invalid"
