filtering data in gallery by numeric text

Hi everyone,

I am new to Power Apps and i am just seeing whether i can use this to solve some business issues. i have done some VB.net programming years ago but i seem stuck on what seems a fairly basic thing. Hope you can help.

Essentially I am populating a gallery from an Excel file. What i want to be able to do is to filter the result based on a numeric criteria. You can see i have made a text field and a submit button and I want the resulting gallery to only show only results where the width equals the entry in the text field.

Whatever I try I get different errors and it seems to be a problem associated with data types. I am sure I am missing something basic here as it seems like it should be relatively easy. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction as i have spent quite a while on it so far and it's pretty frustrating 🙂

In your scenario you will need to specify the criteria in your filter.

What type of column is Width in your data source?  If it is numeric, then you can set your Items property formula filter as follows:

Filter(yourList, Width=Value(yourTextInput.Text))

If it is text, then:

Filter(yourList, Width=yourTextInput.Text)

If something else...just post back what you have.

Thanks for your suggestions. I had actually tried those and got errors but when you asked me what sort of data was in the column that was the answer. I went back and checked the column properties in Excel and changed them to Number.  Then it started working as expected.

I knew it would be some rookie error, thanks for your help. It really helped.
