To implement the mentioned requirements in a canvas app where users can log in and track their check-in and check-out times, including scenarios for leave or holiday and missed check-outs, you can follow these steps:

  1. Add a button control to your canvas app screen for the login functionality. You can customize the button's text and appearance as needed.

  2. In the OnSelect property of the login button, use the following code to implement the desired logic:

// Check if the user has a record for the current date
ClearCollect(
    CurrentUserRecord,
    Filter(
        SharePointList,
        UserEmail = User().Email && Date = Today()
    )
);

// Check if the user has a record for the previous date
ClearCollect(
    PreviousUserRecord,
    Filter(
        SharePointList,
        UserEmail = User().Email && Date = DateAdd(Today(), -1, Days)
    )
);

// Check if the user has a record for the current date with a non-blank check-in time and blank check-out time
If(
    CountRows(CurrentUserRecord) = 0,
    // User is logging in for the day without a record, create a new record
    Patch(
        SharePointList,
        Defaults(SharePointList),
        {
            UserEmail: User().Email,
            Date: Today(),
            CheckIn: Now()
        }
    ),
    If(
        IsBlank(CurrentUserRecord.CheckOut),
        // User missed check-out for the day, navigate to check-out update screen
        Navigate(CheckOutUpdateScreen, ScreenTransition.None),
        // User has already checked in and out for the day, navigate to the next appropriate screen
        // Adjust the screen names as per your app's navigation flow
        Navigate(NextScreen, ScreenTransition.None)
    )
)
  1. Replace "SharePointList" with the actual name of your SharePoint list data source. Modify the "CheckOutUpdateScreen" and "NextScreen" with the names of your respective screens.

    This code uses the ClearCollect function to fetch the user's current record for the current date and the previous date from the SharePoint list. It then checks various conditions to determine the appropriate action:

    • If the user doesn't have a record for the current date, a new record is created with the current date and check-in time.
    • If the user has a record for the current date with a non-blank check-in time and a blank check-out time, it means the user missed the check-out. In this case, the app navigates to the check-out update screen for the previous date's record.
    • If the user has already checked in and out for the day, the app navigates to the next appropriate screen based on your app's flow.

    Adjust the navigation and screen names as needed to fit your app's structure.

By following these steps, you can implement the logic for users to log in, track check-in and check-out times, handle leave or holiday scenarios, and navigate to the appropriate screens based on the user's actions.
