new look for Power Apps

We recently launched a preview of the new look for model driven app Power Apps. Details here As you try out the preview, please tell us what you think.  In the coming weeks we'll be talking more about how modern controls, using the Microsoft Fluent design system, will be coming to canvas apps, theming is also on the horizon (about time!).  We're keen to hear people's thoughts and feedback on all those topics here.

Many thanks

Ben

2 questions on timing here:
1. Is there an expected date that we will be able to customize the BPFs using the modern themes?

2. Is there a date where the new look will be required without any option to use the legacy look?

@benapple Overall, love the new design and also agree with the issues mentioned above, would like to add another few issues:

1. When I click on SEND DIRECT EMAIL >> add email template >> Click on Close or Send>> it's not working
The Send Email dialog is not closing. I need to refresh to close it.
2. "Save changes to existing view" is missing
3. "Business Recommended" fields are missing the '+' icon on the field.
4. Could you please let us know the date when the new look will be required without any option to use the legacy look? or ther will be an option to revert back to old look?

1. This has been fixed and should be rolling out to customers soon.

2. Can you send a picture of what (Save changes to existing view) looks like?

3. We're looking at all the options for ensuring users know how to fill out forms.

4. We're working on allowing customers to enable modern look without the try toggle.

Thanks for the quick update. I refreshed the browser couple of times and the issue related to Save changes to current view seems working.

Regarding the response on my 4th question - Do you mean try toggle will not be an option in future?

@Maurits "Select all" was only not available for infinite scroll mode, but that should be available pretty soon for the Power Apps grid control for infinite scroll and paging modes.

Couple notes:

1. Multiline text fields that are set to expand to available space are not expanding (show as set height with a scroll bar)

2. Yes/No fields set to behave as checkboxes are showing as yes/no dropdown instead of checkbox

When I have a view of erroneous system jobs, I can select them but the contextual menue does not offer me to resume/re-run the system.

That's why I have to navigate to the old UI still not fully migrated to the new UI (pick a view built looking for waiting processes -> re run).

Maybe the left overs from the old UI will be addressed in this new new UI rework.

speaking of wishlist, another item is to be able to add CRM roles to system users or teams directly from within the CRM system (in the old ui this worked will, in the new UI it is not possible, would be great to have it back with the new new UI).

As far as i have seen: if you filter first and then add another column all filters are lost if filtered from the headers (if filtered by the navigation they do not get lost). This drives me mad.

So you have first to define all columns and then add the filters. But by adding filters you may want to add one or two filters more, then you are doomed.
Well, the dirty workaround is to save it as a view ... leading to an inflationary amount of saved views (you actually never wanted to save in the first place...). One mess leads to another mess but we could pretend that all works ;-).

Firstly, I have been loving the new look & feel and greatly appreciate the continuous efforts towards the modern controls! A big thank you! 😊

An improvement that, in my opinion, would positively impact the development experience would be expanding the Modern Controls Reset capabilities.

(1) Allowing the modern Tab List control to be Reset natively. Currently there are known workarounds as documented on the forum (Topic 1 - Topic 2), but a Reset property and/or making the control resettable via the Reset() function would result in an easier and improved development experience.

(2) Certain modern controls are resettable via the Reset() function (think of the TextInput, Checkbox, Combobox controls...). Adding a 'Reset' property similar to the classic controls would allow developers to easily bundle resets together via a variable instead of using separate Reset() functions.

Best regards,

LaurensM

Hi @jbister

Regarding these:

Couple notes:

1. Multiline text fields that are set to expand to available space are not expanding (show as set height with a scroll bar)

CM: Can you send us a picture of what this looks like and where it's happening, is it just in the form or quick view, etc.

2. Yes/No fields set to behave as checkboxes are showing as yes/no dropdown instead of checkbox

CM: We're actively working on this but currently don't have a timeline for when it will be released.

Thanks!
