new look for Power Apps

We recently launched a preview of the new look for model driven app Power Apps. Details here.  As you try out the preview, please tell us what you think.  In the coming weeks we'll be talking more about how modern controls, using the Microsoft Fluent design system, will be coming to canvas apps, theming is also on the horizon (about time!).  We're keen to hear people's thoughts and feedback on all those topics here.

Our users are having the same problem when they are using a role based on the App Opener role.   When they toggle on the "Try New Look", there is an error that occurs and they get stuck on "Getting things ready" message.

I figured it out in the end, the custom App Opener Role needs Write access on the table called "User Settings".

Is there a way to enable the New Look at the environment level instead of letting the users decide to enable it?

We want it to be enabled for all and hide the Try New Look with the environment setting. Is this possible?

Why are the recommended icons removed as without the icons, there is no purpose of using recommended fields at all? Recommended fields with an icon are a great help to notify users to populate important data, whilst not limiting them to save a record of they don't supply a value. Please put the recommended icon on the new UI.

Hi,

I noticed possible unexpected record selection behaviour for the modern table control when troubleshooting a recent forum topic. The topic explained unexpected behaviour in regards to referencing the selected record on another screen when using a mobile view. After analysis it seemed that the record selection did not persist through screens when using a mobile / list lay-out.

After some manual testing I noticed that:

• The table resets / loses the current selection when navigating back to your initial screen containing the table control
• The table resets / loses the current selection when changing UI type either manually or organically via reflow (tabular on desktop vs list on mobile)
• When using the list view the selection reference does not work across screens*

* Although it is recommended to avoid referencing controls across screens e.g. by using variables instead, this does not occur with a Gallery / Data Table control.

Hi Ben, according to the enhancement:

Edit records inline through enhanced grid

Be more efficient with data through the update grid experience, that now supports infinite scroll and inline editing. Inline editing requires an additional configuration step, detailed here. Once enabled for an entity, it allows fast and easy changes to be made direct from the grid view, saving users countless clicks.

I got the feedback from my User of Dynamics Customer Service APP, that they would like to have the "Power Apps grid control element" with a feature to set the first column with the checkboxes not to be scrolled horizontally. Reason is: the user often have many column and want to select rows depending on values more to the rigth of the grid out of the visible area. If the checkbox would be fix, this would be a great help in the selecting process.

Is my post here at the proper point to adress the topic?

Thanks, @NajukHusky for this feedback! Pinning/freezing columns is not yet supported in the Power Apps grid control, but we agree that would be a very useful feature in general and especially for the row selection column.
