patch giving an error and not updating the source

Hi why my patch function not working? am using defaults to have new record

Also am trying to update choice column, what am doing wrong? region is choice column type

My issue i have a region dropdown which takes its value from sharepoint list by using Choices('reza students'.Region)

so when am doing patch to my table 'reza students' , am using 

Patch('reza students',Defaults('reza students'),{Region:Regiondropdown.Selected}), so its giving an error

Although in my sharepoint list i have Region column and it is a choice

The error is shown in below, am not understanding whats going on wrong

i solved my issue by going to list settings and changing the choice type to dropdown, dont know why it defaulted to checkboxes and this was giving an error

did anyone encounter such case that choice column defaults to checkbox? when i changed the type to dropdown now the patch works perfectly
