patch won't work

Hi 

I have a list in my sharepoint called Test with a column called Num1

Id' like to patch a text input ( textinput1) to Num1 with the onselect of a button, could someone tell me what syntax should be 

I have tried the below and i get an error

I assume Num1 is a number column. If it is you probably need to surround the TextInput1.Text with a Value() to convert it from text to a number.

Your syntax is incorrect.

This is the Patch function you need:

Patch(
   Test,
   Defaults(Test),
   {
      Num1: TextInput1.Text
   }
)

That's brilliant thank you, if i wanted to add another button to delete the data in the sharepoint list i've patched back what would the syntax be?

Hi @jsmith87 ,

If you are displaying the record in gallery, 

Let's say you add a delete Icon within the gallery, your syntax will be:

Remove(
   Test,
   ThisItem
)

If you keep delete button outside the gallery, your syntax will be

Remove(
   Test,
   Gallery1.Selected
)

Note: This will work only on selected record on Gallery (1 record at instance)

In order to bulk delete few records at once, you need to create collection and delete items from the collection either looping entire collection within ForAll() or send collection directly

Thank you i really appreciate it! one last question, i promise! i want to make a collection and that will collect results from subtitle1 which has names in it however when i do this the collection isn't recording the company name. I want to be able to press the button and the collection takes all names from each result in the gallery, is this possible?

Hi @jsmith87 ,

ClearCollect() is used to bulk capture records in collection whereas, Collect() captures single record in collection

Don't add control names as collection, simply add columnName to collect data

For example:

ClearCollect(
   ColRecords,
   <datasource>
)

Note: This is basic syntax to collect all records + all columns at once.

You can use combination of ShowColumns to specify selective columns only

You can use Filter() to collect selective records in collection

so-on....

Do refer documentation for more insights

Thank you, really appreciate your help. The issue is i dont want to collect some labels in my gallery in the collection table. 

 i've used the below in the button, only issue is it collects only the first record in the galley, i need to collect every mile and name gallery from the record, but not collect other labels, i've added a pic below to visualise what i need to do, i've not found a way to do it yet, is it possible?

ClearCollect(Data,{Name:Subtitle1.Text,Miles:Title1.Text})

Your potential syntax will be:

ClearCollect(
   ColData,
   ShowColumns(
      <datasource>,
      "Company Name",
      "Miles"
   )
)

Replace contents as necessary

Note: You are still adding control names instead of column names from your datasource.
