provide message when user enters 2 digit year

Hi all

In my Power Apps form, I have several date picker fields. I notice Power Apps lets me enter invalid dates (ex: 5/12/23). It doesn't give me an error, so I think I'm saving the date, but it actually doesn't save because of the 2 digit year. 

How can I alert the user about this? I found another post that said to insert a text box next to the date picker with the Text property: If(IsBlank(DataCardValue01.SelectedDate), "", IsMatch( Text(DataCardValue01.SelectedDate, "[$-en-US]dd/mm/yyyy"), "^\d{2}\/\d{2}\/\d{4}"), "", "Date format must be dd/mm/yyyy")

But it doesn't work. No matter what date I enter, the words don't appear. 

Any advice?

I would switch to TextInput in this scenario, and OnChange apply Ruls to date with a notification

It will look like this.

If(
    !IsMatch(
        TextInput4.Text,
        "^(0[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01])[- /.](0[1-9]|1[012])[- /.](19|20)\d\d$"
    ),
    Notify(
        "You entered a invalid date format, please enter value in dd/mm/yyyy format",
        NotificationType.Warning
    );
    Reset(TextInput4)
)

And no problem 🙂

Here is a test I did and it works fine.

Datepicker with default date set to -> TextInput5.Text

Now when I type a date into the text input it populates the date picker. See video below for examples.

Thanks for writing. Very clever. It's almost working...

Do I need anything besides these 2 steps:

• Date Picker DefaultDate property:  TextInput1.Text
• Insert a Text Input (mine is called TextInput1) inside the Date Picker data card. The OnChange property is SebS's code above. 

What else is needed because when I enter a valid date and click Submit, nothing is saved to my list.

And would I hide the Date Picker and only use the text input? So the pop up date picker feature would be gone and users would be required to only use the text field?

Just tested a button with this code and it went to sp list

Patch(Test, {DateTest: DatePicker2.SelectedDate})

once you are certain of the functionality you can absolutely hide the date picker unless you want them to have the option to use the date picker part of it.

Thanks @mmollet  I'm not familiar with Patch. I tried putting the code after my SubmitForm(EditForm1). But it's giving me this error:

Hiding the Date Picker takes away the calendar pop up which could be useful. If I don't hide the Date Picker, then they have 2 places to enter one date? Hmmm.... this is getting a bit too complicated. I appreciate the help but I'll just stick with my labels telling users to enter a 4 digit year.
