the field is not auto updating

I have a drop down field called reporting line, to select the choice to classify who is the manager and who is the director.

after selected the reporting line, use the below formula to get the correspondence person email

LookUp('Reporting Line', 'Display Name'=ThisItem.'Report Manager'.Value).'Manager E-Mail'

However, I find that after the dropdown menu update, the correspondence email text field is not able to auto update, I need to save, go out, and come in this details screen again in order to get this update automatically.

Can any one give me a suggestion to solve this problem? Thank you

Yes, but have you right-clicked on it and chosen Run App OnStart? You will not have anything in your collection unless you re-enter the app or run this.

OK @laiyatsing ,

Going back to the start, you have this

LookUp('Reporting Line', 'Display Name'=ThisItem.'Report Manager'.Value).'Manager E-Mail'

the bit that has me confused is you refer to a drop down, but are filtering on

ThisItem.'Report Manager'.Value

 which would be a gallery selection. A drop-down would be

YourDropDownControlName.Selected.Value

Hi @laiyatsing ,

You have a Delegation warning on the query as a result of your Choice field 'Report Manager'. These types of fields are not Delegable and this may be the reason for the behavior you are experiencing. I can see another warning on the card next to it.

If you have less than 2000 items in 'Reporting Line', then do this at App OnStart

ClearCollect(colReporting, 'Reporting Line')

Then do your Filter on colReporting rather than 'Reporting Line'. Happy to assist further.

Thank you for your suggestion, the warning logo is another problem give me a headache, however, since all function work like as normal that's why I haven't pay anytime on think about it.

I added this code on start, and change the value code too, no more data come in, is there anything need to adjust too?

despite the fact that there is the yellow warning logo here, the value still able to come in successfully, the main problem is the "ReportedManagerEmail" value do not able to auto update after I change the choice in the reporting line drop down box, I need to save it, Navigate to BrowseGallary,  and enter this page again, then the "ReportedManagerEmail" value will base on the reporting line drop down box option to update.

Hi @laiyatsing

Firstly your OnStart code does this

Set( //sets Start Date to seven months in the past
   FilteredStartDate,
   DateAdd(
      Now(),-7,
      Months
   )
);
Set( //sets End Date to tomorrow
   FilteredEndDate,
   DateAdd(
      Now(),1
   )
);
Set( //Sets variable CurrentItem to incoming deep ID number
   CurrentItem,
   Value(Param("ID"))
);
ClearCollect( //Makes a collection out of list 'Reporting Line' as suggested
   colReporting,
   'Reporting Line'
)

Do your drop-downs work now you have done this

Lookup(
   colReporting,
   ’Display Name’=ThisItem.’Report Manager’.Value
).’Manager E-Mail'

in order simplify the code, I delete the other first.

once I copy the main code inside, there is an error occurred, the wording "list " turned into green.

I tired the delete the space before the green wording list, this is still error.

2.JPG

** I copy and paste to it

Once I delete everything, no more error.

However, when I change from

LookUp('Reporting Line', 'Display Name'=ThisItem.'Report Manager'.Value).'Manager E-Mail'

to

LookUp(colReporting, 'Display Name'=ThisItem.'Report Manager'.Value).'Manager E-Mail'

Hi @laiyatsing ,

The comments were only to show you what this code does - I left a / off one - now corrected. You can delete them all (everything on the line after the //)
