Power Pages Licensing

Hi community,

It looks like the new licensing for Power Pages has dropped now that it is in general release. I want to check my understanding here based on the screenshot below.

  • Authenticated users - a "user/site/month" would be each time an individual user logs in on on a unique day (i.e. if Bob logs in 10 times in one day, it uses one seat, but if he logs in once a day for 10 days that's 10 seats).
  • Anonymous users - a "user/site/month" is any time a site is accessed by anyone and not logged in. So if one anonymous person visits the site 10 times or 10 different anonymous people visit the site once it's going to use 10 seats.

If someone knows the ins and outs here, please let me know if I'm on track or if there's anything I'm missing.

Thanks!

Hi @cbayens

  • Authenticated - the way you described it was the previous model, with the current model it doesn't matter how many times a user logs in per month.. 1 user/1 login per month = 1 seat... 1 user/n logins per month = 1 seat
  • Anonymous - your definition is correct

It's also worth mentioning that for the anonymous login, the calculation is based on the browser's session ID, and when a user starts anonymous and then logs in, the Portal will only consider that user authenticated from a license perspective

hope this helps

Hi @cbayens

Actually, if you have less than 50 users, I suggest you go with the PayG ( Pay as you go plan). This is cheaper than 200$ (Tier 1)

Hi #oliverrodrigues

Please explain the situation while I am developing an SaaS.

So, myself and two other developers = 3 seats (this is while we are developing the system).

However, the pricing shows $200 for 100 users/site/month.
Does this mean that even though I have only 3 authenticated users I need to pay $200/month?

Thanks, Mark.

Currently, while you are developing you are not required to buy any licenses, so during DEV/TEST phase, there is no need to worry there, the only downside is that the Portals performance isn't great.

You would still need to have a Power Platform plan to be able to provision the Portal, so I am not saying that everything is free here

When you go live, you will need licenses, and if you have let's say only 3 users, then yes, you will need to buy a back in the Tier 1 (200$ per month)

Hi

Thank so much for the info.  What is the process to activate the license.  I bought through Microsoft 365 Portal.  Is there anything else I need to do?

Dear friends,

The Power Pages Site I would like to develop will take more than 60 days to be ready to publish to production and so, the trial period will not be enougth. I would like to know if Is there a free Power Pages Licensing for Developers? If so, how do I active it?

Thank you.
