Hi everyone,
is there a possibility to manually update a form again after some actions?
I have the problem that the profile form is not displaying what's in dataverse.
A power automate flow is doing things in the background and changes a column from no to yes to show additional information on the profile page. However the form is not consistently updated as it seems. Sometimes, even when the table has been changed for some minutes, the data inside the form stays the same. It's necessary for the user to see the updates as they can only than proceed using the page.
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you are using standard Flow with a Dataverse trigger it runs asynchronously - depending on exactly what you are doing often if you use a Synchronous (real-time) Plugin or Workflow it will solve the issue.
The reason for the minutes of delay is due to how the Portals caching mechanism is implemented. In a nutshell, when you are creating or updating a primary record on the Portal the value gets updated straight away in Dataverse and any realtime processing (is part of the same transaction) in Dataverse (e.g. realtime plugin) on the primary record will be pushed to the portals cache so it is available straight away. The same does not hold for secondary records e.g. Child records of the primary record where an update of the primary record causes a update of the secondary record the secondary record update is not pushed to the cache straight away. Similarly, asynchronous (background) processing does not form part of the same transaction and as such anything it creates or updates is not available to the cache straight away.
FYI: the SLA on updates performed in Dataverse pushing to the Portal is 15 mins but usually occurs within a couple.
Hi @Lucas001
Yes, updating or refreshing the form after the update is possible. Are you displaying the profile web form data via a list? If so, you can write a piece of JS for the entity list and refresh the list. Adding example below for the list
$(document).ready(function(){setInterval(function(){$(".view-grid th:first a:first").trigger("click");},10000);});
In a similar fashion, you can reload the page also with some timeout interval. Not an ideal solution, but it works.
Also, have a look at my article: https://ragavanrajan.medium.com/powerapps-portal-finding-current-version-or-clear-portal-cache-901e6...
Advanced: You can use Power Automate Desktop (RPA) to clear the cache and call the Power Automate Desktop flow via Power Automate cloud flow
One of the most requested feature is "clearing the cache via power automate."
PS: Please feel free to follow me on Medium if you want to learn any exciting content about the power platform
Hope it helps.

Hi @ragavanrajan,
thanks for your response.
Actually no, I just use the profile web form for the user to enter their data. And the form normally displays what's inside dataverse. Sometimes it takes really long (5-10 Min) to get the new data. Is there a way to "tell" the form to refresh and fetch the data again?
I thought about xml-fetch but it's more difficult to integrate into the Profile Page of PowerPages

Hi @Lucas001
Thanks for the confirmation. If you don't have an entity list. Fubar has clearly explained the sync/async process of the delay. Hope it shed some light on you.
Then the modern way I have mentioned is using Power Automate desktop. If not you need to do the timeout refresh in page every 30 seconds (but not a ideal solution)
Hope it helps.
