Send Invitation and Redeem Invitation workflow

Hi everyone,

Our website's configured to create accounts through invitation. However, when redeeming the invitation, when the unique code is inputted and the invitation is expected to be redeemed it does not push through the registration OOTB portion of the sign-in page.

My cursor just loads, and the page has a dark overlay signaling that it's loading. However, no matter how long I wait, it does not push through the registration page.

I didn't change anything in the redeem invitation workflow and the invitations tab in Portal Management, I can see the invitation that I want to redeem. Can anyone help me, please? This is a crucial portion of our website.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @MarianoGoettel

I have answered here https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Discussions/Invitation-link-not-working-even-after-addin...

to solve the invitation redemption issue.

Additionally, Azure AD B2C is the way to go. Robust solution

Hope it helps.

hey @apangeles

Please note local authentication is not recommended by Microsoft.  Please see the official note. Most likely it will be deprecated soon. Please use Azure B2C going forward.

However, if you still want to use local authentication and fix the error. You need to configure a shared mailbox and fix some process workflows behind the scenes.

I have some articles closely related to this. Link here

Azure AD B2C is easy to configure and secure. Easy to maintain.

Hope it helps.

@ragavanrajan

But Azure B2C has a subscription cost right? I think we don't have the budget for it for now. We need to establish that this project will work at first then we'll recommend that after.

I'm not sure if your solution aligns with my issue. I simply need to redeem the invitation through the redeem invitation tab in the signin page. However, when I click the register button, the cursor just turns into a loading circle and a dark overlay covers the browser screen.

I investigated my site settings, the redeem invitation workflow, etc. And compared it to previous websites that I've made from other environments and its the same. I really don't know what to do anymore and I'm dire need to solve this issue. Please help.

@apangeles please note that Azure AD B2C is free for the first 50k logins (per month), and even after that is still very cheap.

Hi @apangeles,

I have exactly the same problem as you and I can't find the reason nor the solution.

Please, have you found anything?

Thanks.

Hi @OliverRodrigues

Understood. It's the first that I knew about this free 50k MAU for Azure B2C. I will be having a meeting with some of our contacts with Microsoft to discuss how to go about setting this up in our tenant. I appreciate that you shared this!

Hi @Javier-M-G,

Unfortunately, I recreated my page from scratch. I decided on it because of the default enhanced version my new website defaulted on, and because its redeem invite worked on it as expected. I just assumed that because Microsoft's pushing the enhanced version I need to keep up with the update.

Since all my tables, forms, views, multi-steps, etc. are all in the same environment, transfer was easy enough. It took me two days though to set everything up again.

Hi @ragavanrajan ,
Can we use Redeem Invitation in Azure AD B2C like if we don't want the user sign up process only the invited contact can register themself in portal.
Note : We are using Azure AD B2C as default Identity provider.
Help me in this,
Thank you.

Hi @_Mayank

Yes, absolutely you can use the Azure B2C redeem invitation.

Note: This requires more work to achieve. Adding official samples

https://github.com/azure-ad-b2c/samples/tree/master/policies/invite

Also, Have a look at the below video from @nhayduk

Hope it helps.

Hey @ragavanrajan
How to redirect user to AD B2C sign in page on click of register button in redeem invitation page?

Also can you please explain a little bit more about how to setup redeem invitation for Azure AD B2C.

Thank you.
