Apply array variable to a select action

Hi guys,

I have a requirement to run 2 HTTP GET actions but then to merge them. The reason is because API call #1 gives me the following info:

"productId", "quantity", "status", "price" & "billingTerm"
The problem is productId is a GUID and not a friendly name. So I have to run a second API call using the productId to get the friendly name. Then i need to match up the items in both calls.

The second API call uses the productId and I am appending the results to an array variable

The result is

[
  "Exchange Online (Plan 1) [New Commerce Experience]",
  "Microsoft 365 Business Premium [New Commerce Experience]",
  "Exchange Online (Plan 2) [New Commerce Experience]",
  "Azure Active Directory Premium P2 [New Commerce Experience]",
  "Exclaimer Signature Management Cloud"
]

But then when adding to the select action

[
  {

So how would i get the friendly name only appear under each product and not grouped together?

Thanks,
David

Stick to the plan with a Select action 😉

addProperty(outputs('Data')[item()], 'ProductName', outputs('Names')[item()])

Hi @da1ve,

 you could create a for each loop for the results of your second HTTP-Request and append the value to the specific array. For that reason you would need an additional variable as a counter and use it inside the for each loop.

variables('your Arrayname here')['your Counter here']

  As it seems your names are in the correct order you don't need to use a specific filter.

Hi @Lucas001 ,

Are you able to explain a bit more? Sorry just completely lost 🙂

Thanks,
David

Hi @da1ve,

sure 😄

You have your outputs let's say this is results[4] (as arrays start with 0 and you have 5 entries).

The second array is the one ArrayToAdd[4] (length same as above as both HTTP Requests deliver the same amount of objects).

What you need to do is add the result[0] into ArrayToAdd[0].

That in the end you have as an example:

{
    "Product ID": "b2286d6e-b60b-b7dce26bf423",
    "Quantity": 10,
    "Status": "Active",
    "Billing Term": "Monthly",
    "Name":
      "Exchange Online (Plan 1) [New Commerce Experience]",
  },

That needs to be repeated so that you map results[x] to AddToArray[n]. You can use a "for each" or a "do until" but you need a variable for n. Which I would name something like counter, starts with 0 and is incremented by 1 each iteration.

So that you can access results[counter] and add that result to the AddToArray[counter]. It depends a bit on which loop you want to take but the general process should be like that.

Depending on how you want to store it you could use a string Variable with "Name":"results[counter]" and append it or use the select action.

Hope that helps.

Thanks @Lucas001 , it sort of makes sense. So this is what I have done

I have initialized a count variable and then incrementing the variable (by 1) in the apply to each action.

da1ve_0-1687751865370.png

So HTTP 2 has the first set of info and Compose 2 has the second set. So these are the arrays I need to merge. So would I first append the output of HTTP 2 to the array variable and then update that variable inside the apply to each?

Thanks,
David
