Approval with external users

Do Approvals with external users finally work?

 

I gave up my project for over a month and just came back to it but apparently, it still does not work.

 

Could someone confirm this, please?

It only works for external users (not guest users)

 

external users are users invited to your AD

I just tested this feature out and it works

To send approval emails to external users, you need to invite them as guest users into your organization first.

 

I have made a test by sending an approval email to an external user, who has already been a guest user in my organization. It works successfully.

Thank you for your confirmations, however, it does not work for me.

 

I have been an external user before, it didn't work. I have removed myself and invited again (I have admin access to both tenants).externaluser.png

 

I have assigned a license to myself (I've tried it before without license but since my last trials I get a new error like my account is missing a license).externaluser-license.png

 

At this stage of writing this message I wanted to take a screen dump of the error where I have no license, however, it asked me to select my data location (I have done it manually in Azure AD) and I could approve the request. So, success.

It seems to work now.

However, my email is not the same as I send it to my original organization; I mean, I can approve it straight from Outlook, where now with external approval when I press Approve or Reject from the email it takes me to the website. Could you confirm if this is the only way? I mean, do external users cannot approve straight from the email?

This is true

External users cannot approve straight from the email but have to go to the approval dashboard to do so

Is there a cost for an external user to be able to approve?

I use choices on email to external clients to approve items in a flow instead 🙂

That is so ridiculous. Microsoft is so blind and greedy, they never really make things easy when it comes to "external" or "guests" users as-if companies only works internally.  Cannot easily "collaborate" with their collaboration tools (Power Automate, Planner, Teams, etc..)

Hi All, may I ask if the external approver requires extra subscription for reply approval?

e.g. extra power apps or power automate premium plan (user plan)?

 

In the automation we use, no. The external client just receives an email with choices (approve/reject in my case)

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities. Users must provide a solution which can be an “Accepted Solution” in the Forums in all of the communities and there are no limits to the number of “Accepted Solutions” that a member can provide for entries in this challenge, but each entry must be substantially unique and different.    Winner Selection and Prizes: At the end of each week, we will list the top ten (10) Community users which will consist of: 5 Community Members & 5 Super Users and they will advance to the final drawing. We will post each week in the News & Announcements the top 10 Solution providers.  At the end of the challenge, we will add all of the top 10 weekly names and enter them into a random drawing.  Then we will randomly select ten (10) winners (5 Community Members & 5 Super Users) from among all eligible entrants received across all weekly Entry Periods to receive the prize listed below.
