Banging head against wall with Sharepoint Date format, comparison, and for each

Good morning,

I have a flow that takes a value from a sharepoint list (field value is 'TU_1') and checks to see if it is today. If it is today, it sends an email as a reminder. I haven't got the condition part to function correctly. 

Following articles and tutorials from here, I got the current date variable set and formatted:

When it comes to the TU_1 dates from the list entries, I have tried various things. Set as a compose value, set as variable which isn't allowed when it wraps into a "For each". When I go to outputs, here are the two values:

@JDaniels-007 you don't need the variable but you do need 2 compose actions. Into each one add a  formatDateTime expression to format both dates to yyyy-MM-dd. Then you can compare the outputs of the 2 compose actions in a condition.

When I do a second compose for the TU_1 date field from the sharepoint list, it throws an error saying it needs to be initialized. flow with error

Hi @JDaniels-007 

Inside Apply to each 2 clause

you can create a condition and directly parse the dates to string and do a compare

left column = formatDateTime('TU1','MM/dd/yyyy')
right column  = formatDateTime(utcNow(),'MM/dd/yyyy')
Or If you want to convert to timezone as well you can try below for right
right column = formatDateTime(convertTimeZone(utcNow(),'UTC','Eastern Standard Time'),'MM/dd/yyyy')

Still, you can use var for today's date comparison, hope it helps.

I tried that and am getting this now - 

Unable to process template language expressions for action 'Condition' at line '0' and column '0': 'In function 'formatDateTime', the value provided for date time string 'TU_1' was not valid. The datetime string must match ISO 8601 format.'.

You just copied the code on left column inplace of tu1 can you select your SharePoint column name for which you want to compare date

The SharePoint column name is TU_1

I was putting this in the left column:

formatDateTime('TU_1','MM/dd/yyyy')

When I just do a get items and look at the output, this is how a value on the column outputs - 

"TU_1":"2022-06-10T04:00:00Z"

So I tried this and get the same ISO error:

formatDateTime('TU_1','yyyy/MM/dd')
