Hi,

I am trying to automate the export of a a List to excel (copying step by step what I found in a article of Matthew Devaney)

In the button I have implemented the below code (to pass the data in Json format):

Question: what should I have in the Create file / Content file field (pic below)?

Thanks @SudeepGhatakNZ . I did it and now I get the following message when I press the button.

The first part in italian says: The call to the App failed.

I have simplified the Json as much as possible to 1 only item ("ID") :

To generate the code for the Json Parse block I have used the following code:

Set(
varSalesLead;
JSON(ShowColumns(
FirstN('Sales Qualified Leads Registration 2'; 3);
"ID"
);
JSONFormat.IndentFour
)
)

that generated this super simple Json:

[ { "ID": 1 }, { "ID": 2 }, { "ID": 3 }]

In the PowerAutomate block (Parse JSon) I have added the code (generated by the above example):

{

    "type": "array",

    "items": {

        "type": "object",

        "properties": {

            "ID": {

                "type": "integer"

            }

        },

        "required": [

            "ID"

        ]

    }

}

Finally In the button for generating the Excel I have added the code:

varCSVFile;

Here is a working code. App and Flow are attached. The only difference is that my JSONFormat is IgnoreBinaryData

Just to be sure I understood correctly (sorry if I am asking guidance step by step but I have very limited PowerApp experience):

Do you suggest to use your code in the OnSelect properties of the  button instead of my actual code as below? :

'my' code:

What is colDataToExport in your code?

Start with this code

// convert the table data into a JSON
Set(varSalesLead;JSON(ShowColumns('Sales Qualified Leads Registration 2';"ID");JSONFormat.IgnoreBinaryData));;
// run the flow
Set(varCSVFile;PowerAppV2.Run(varSalesLead).linkoutput);;
// download the file to Excel

Then print the varCSVFile in a Text variable to see if it returns anything. Also investigate if there are any errors in flow.

I have used your code but I get the same error.. and I assume therefore the issue is in the flow and it could be also a very basic error.. since I am coping and pasting  code without knowing Microsoft Automate 🙂

Do you see anything strange here that can be the source of my headache? Thanks x 1000 !!!!

Does your flow execute successfully or does it throw an error as well? Can you show the output of last two actions?

I am not sure how to show the output of the single actions. Can you pls suggest how to do it?

The easiest way to resolve this would be to assign a dynamic name to the file by appending the time stamp. That way every time the flow runs a new file will be generated.
