Compare two sharepoint lists and create item not there

Hello,

I have three sharepoint lists , List #1 has names, List # 2 has names. If List #1 Names don't Match in List # 2, then those names in List #2, I need to create items (names) in list #3.

I tried filter array if Name = Name and compose Length = 0 but I don't get new names. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

After you get the items in the Filter array you will want to run the flow, go to the flow run, & copy the outputs of the Filter array.

Then in the edit flow screen add a Parse JSON action, input the dynamic content for the Filter array body, & select to generate schema from sample and paste the Filter array outputs into the sample box.

To get all the Names in List 2 not in List 1, you need to have all the Names from List 1 in a single array so that the Filter array can compare each Name from List 2 to the values of the array of List 1 Names.

So use a Select action withe From set to List 1 Values.

Toggle the right-side button to change the Select input to a single input box as opposed to the default table input.

In the single input box, use the expression item()?[‘Name’]
That should get you an array of all List 1 Names.

Then in your Filter array set the From to List 2 Values.

On the left side of the condition input the dynamic content for the Body of the previous Select action (The List 1 Names array).
Set the condition to Does not contain.

Set the right side to the List 2 Name dynamic content.

That should return every item in List 2 with a Name not found in List 1.

Hello @takolota ,

Thank you very much. When I come to create an item, would i used apply to each and add the value of the filter array?

Hello @takolota ,

Also Filter array isn't working, the outputs are showing names that are in List 1.  I only need names that aren't in list 1 to display. I know it's confusing sorry.

The original post is not clear on what you need…

I have three sharepoint lists , List #1 has names, List # 2 has names. If List #1 Names don't Match in List # 2, then those names in List #2, I need to create items (names) in list #3.”

Thank you @takolota , then I would create the item next correct?

@Sahara22

Exactly, the Parse JSON should have made the item fields available in dynamic content again for the Create item

Ok @takolota it worked and your awesome! I have one more question I promise lol. So on that Name list that it's populating , in the same list it has employee work location, can I add this to? list one with the only the names doesn't have it.  So the list its getting all the new names in that same list it has Employee work location beside it in a different column.

@Sahara22

If it was in the list items from the Filter array, I would assume you would just add it from the dynamic content. But that makes me think you’re asking about the other list we were checking with.

If you need to quickly reference that other list, you should be able to go to the Apply to each made for the Create item action & add a Get items action where you can set the Filter query to Name eq ‘InsertNameDynamicContentFromFilterArray’

That should then get the corresponding item from the other list with the field you need.

@takolota , Thank you very much
