Copy files from one library to another based on a value in a column

Hello Community ,

I'm trying to build a workflow around a particular field in a SharePoint list.  I want to copy files from one library to another based on a value in a column associated with the file.

So , i created a blank template started with " When a file is created or modified (properties only) ". Then ,  I can read the value of a specific column , well !

However, the Create file action dosn't have the File name and the File content values. So , the flow work  in my Sharepoint Librairy he copied the item but without his extension. (a blank item with same size , same name but you can't open it). There , i add a new action "Get file Content" , to try if i can get the file content  in order to use it on my Create file.

See the picture bellow : flow1.JPG

I don't know if it's a Flow limit or i miss something ?

tnx for you help !

Hi charafRef,

I have some updates for you.

When using the trigger “When a file is created(properties only)”, you need to use the action “Get file content” to get the content of the file. At here, you need to another action “Get file properties” to get the file name that contains the extension. Then in the action “Create file”, use dynamic content from the action “Get file properties” for the filed File Name.

Please take the following screenshot for a reference. I have tested it on my side, the file saved to the second library has its extension and can be opened without issue.

Hi @v-yamao-msft Mabel  ,

Thank you for your replay.

i add Get file Properities action , but the problem still remain ! On my "create file " i don't find the file name attribut of "get properties"  like you , i have only tha name value of my " When  a file is created .." & " Get file Properities" .

What do you think ?

Best Regards ,

TNX 🙂

So ? @v-yamao-msft

i'm waiting for your updates Thank you !

I am unable to copy all the column values from one list to another sharepoint list. Few of the identical columns are gettings copied but not all.

Please suggest why this is happening

Hi charafRef,

The dynamic content is in the middle of the dynamic contents. It seems that you are trying to find it at the bottom of the dynamic contents.

I have the same problem, I don't see the filename neither. i'm pretty sure it was available in the past; It looks like we might have differents builds ?

Serge

Yes , maybe we have a diffrents version @sergeluca , could you tell me wich version of your SP ?

Hi @v-yamao-msft , i don't see anywhere filename on my dynamic content.  Wich version of SharePoint you are using ? Server 2013 , 2016 or online. ? The second question , do you use the classic mode of SharePoint or the modern one ?

On my case , i'm using SharePoint Online with the classic view.

Regards ,

I meant @v-yamao-msft has probably a different build of Flow.

I'm in west Europe, where are you chararRef?

i'm in north America @sergeluca , your version of SharePoint ?

i don't think the geoghraphical zone make a sens with this issue. It's all about version or flow building of @v-yamao-msft.

I use O365. Sometimes we might have different Flows builds in different geographical regions (patching in some regions first)
