Create item Error in flow

Hi, I am really hoping someone can help me.

I am very new to using Power Automate, so please bear with me when trying to explain this issue. 

My current flow has been working fine for the last few months, but in the last day none of the flows have worked. They are getting this error: 

The 'inputs.parameters' of workflow operation 'Create_item' of type 'OpenApiConnection' is not valid. Error details: Input parameter 'item/Duedate' is required to be of type 'String/date'. The runtime value '""' to be converted doesn't have the expected format 'String/date'.

Have no idea how to fix this so I can get the flow working again. HELP!

Hi @laura_marsden ,

The flow is failing because the "Create Item" action is expecting the due date being passed to be a valid date format, but it looks like an empty string or double quotes are being passed to it - which is resulting in the error.

If the Duedate field is not mandatory, then you can add an expression to provide null value when there is no Duedate provided, something like below,

if(not(empty(#DueDateField)),#DueDateField)

 In case your Duedate field is a required field, then you can try to add X number of days to today and provide it as the Duedate,

if(not(empty(#DueDateField)),#DueDateField, addDays(utcNow(),X))

Thank you for your reply.

I actually did a bit more research and found that the SharePoint list settings for the 'Due date' was set as Date and Time, when it should have been Single line of text.

This seemed to fix it and now the flow is working and successfully making passes.

Hello Shaik, I am running into a similar issue and wanted to know more about the first if statement you provided. Currently, it isn't required. but is failing because it is only used on one part of the MS forms section that this workflow is pulling in from. I tried to follow the if statement you provided but still is giving me an error.
