DOCUMENT LIBARARY & FIND A TEXT IN TEXT FILE IN THE DOCUMENT LIBARY

Dear Sir,

I have uploaded TXT file in the Document library and would like to find a word (for example car plate number)from the txt file that uploaded in sharepoint and update those word in a column.

First thing, I'm unable to find particular document library in the flow when I try create.

Second, basically quite a lot of words (it is a log file) and would like to find some words and that word need to be updated in one of the column. The word may different based on the each log file..for example a car plate number. each log file have unique car plate number and I would like to find those car plate number then patch it to a column.

example line in the log file (txt file):

"GENERAL_RESPONSE up PLD6178"

whenever, txt file created in the sharepoint, the the flow need to analyse the file and find car plate then patch it in one of the column.

Is there any solution for this?

Thanks

You may need to adapt this because I am basing this on the following assumption: every log file uploaded follows the same format as your example (GENERAL_RESPONSE up PLD6178). If so your workflow would look like this:

Web capture_2-1-2023_12413_make.powerautomate.com.jpeg

The expression in the compose action is:

replace(outputs('Get_file_content')?['body'],'GENERAL_RESPONSE up ','')

You would use the output of the Compose expression to populate the field in your list.

Hi David,

Thanks for the response, tried but failed, seems having issue for the compose. Do you able to guide me? Thanks

Can you share what expression you used in the compose action along with a screen shot of what it looks like?

Dear Sir,

Please find below. The compose expression exactly same as yours and I copied.

In the log file the wording will be per below:

GENERAL_RESPONSE up PLD6178

replace(outputs('Get_file_content')?['body'],'GENERAL_RESPONSE up ','')

Are you sure you are running this on a text file. You may want to add some checking into the flow to check if the file created is a text file.

David_MA_0-1673120300504.png

The expression in the first compose action is:

endsWith(triggerOutputs()?['body/{FilenameWithExtension}'],'.txt')

The condition uses the output of the compose action from the above expression.

The first compose action under Yes just passes the file content. Then the second compose action contains the expression to replace your text with nothing. However, I amended this to remove the extra space at the end by trimming it.

trim(replace(outputs('Get_file_content')?['body'],'GENERAL_RESPONSE up',''))

As I originally mentioned, this will only work if your text file looks like this:

Dear Sir,

Apologies. Your doubt is correct. I open my file with .sat extension with notepad, this is why I stated as text file.

Also in this .sat file (LOG FILE), the full sentence is shown below. I just need the "PLD6178" to be captured by power automate. The green fonts are unique values for each line in the log file. We would have multiple lines of a similar sentence with unique values. However, the car plate for each log file would be the same (normally).

2022-11-28 16:27:47 FORCE AAA BBBBBBB {DOWNLINK_INIT {{} dn PLD6178 99 9 * last M 99 A}}

2022-11-29 19:27:47 FORCE CNA RYRUBBB {DOWNLINK_INIT {{} dn PLD6178 88 4 * last M 88 A}}

I tried to use your second suggestion by converting .sat to txt (by saving manually and upload in sharepoint) and find it works!!! (by just retaining only one sentence of line for testing purpose). But in actual case we need to :

1. Open .sat file in txt/notepad using automate and find the car plate per below.

2022-11-29 19:27:47 FORCE ANA BBBBBBB {DOWNLINK_INIT {{} dn PLD6178 99 9 * last M 88 A}}

2. In each log there will be hundreds of similar lines with unique values but normally with the same plate. I just need to automate capturing this plate and update in SharePoint column. Else it shows per below:

Thanks

Dear @David_MA ,

Any possibilities that can help on this.

Thanks in advance

With the additional information you provided, as of now I am not sure how you would do what you need to do. It could probably be done, but unfortunately I don't have the time to figure it out as it is doubtful I would run into this type of problem.
