Email with Options - Auto Rejecting

As the title says, I've got a Flow that is sending an Email with Options, but is automatically selecting the Reject option (Approve & Reject are the choices). Before the user receiving the email even has a chance to look at it, it is defaulting down the Rejected side of the condition. Any help is appreciated.

Do all users experience this behavior or just a single user?  If it is just a single user, does the user experience this behavior in both the web client (OWA) and the desktop Outlook application?

At this point in time only a single user. Further along in the Flow there are more "Email with Options", but the Flow hasn't made it that far yet since it's Rejecting from the get go.

I don't think this is an issue with OWA/Outlook, because the person receiving the "Email with Options" isn't even selecting anything. The Flow or some other force is automatically marking it as Rejected before they even have a chance to respond.

I suggest having the user exit the outlook client and test.  If the user does not have Outlook open, does the Flow still proceed?

If not, the have the user open OWA.  Does the Flow proceed?

If not, have the user open the Outlook desktop app.  Does the Flow proceed?

My suspicion is that there is a rule or some other configuration related to the desktop app that is creating your issue.

I am assuming that you have tested an email sent to yourself and found that you do not experience this behavior.

Since we've seen this issue lately I'll ask to be sure.  Is this user on Office 365 Exchange or Exchange on-premises?  I've been seeing a few issues in tenants using hybrid.

I tested this with the email going to myself, and the same problem persisted. Tried with Outlook/OWA open and closed, same thing.

Yes we are a hybrid environment, so perhaps this might be where the issue lies.

I think the problem revolves around trying to get the return value to the option when the mailbox is on-premises.  I'm not sure what you could do to fix it.

Hi,

I have similar problem. We have several external approvers. Our company uses Office 365 office while the external approvers use Gmail service  G Suite. Since the approvers are external, I have to use "email with options." to do similar things as approval.

Recently, we found sometimes the flow will get automatic deny/approve from nowhere(or somewhere) since the approver did not read the request email at all.

I used the if-else condition once, and then try using switch. The problem seems still there.

It is very weird and frustrating, since we dont know the technical details in the black box.

I contacted Microsoft supports and they are not helpful at all really. They just want me to close the ticket ASAP but the problem remained there.

Well that's rather unfortunate. Nice to know at least it's not an isolated problem only to myself.

Guess I'll go back to using the Approval connectors.

does approval connector allow email other than office 365 as an  approver?

I am not 100% sure we are meeting the same problem. But just now I also saw some other post on this published in 2018 from google results.

I can't say 100% certainty since all of our users are internal O365. But I'm going to hazard to say you need to be an O365 user since it will redirect you the Approval Tab inside of Flow.

I've gotten the Approval connector to work for this process I'm working on. But the Email with Options gave me some additional functionality I was trying to utilize. (Basically one of the approvers has email rules where only High Priority emails would make it to their main inbox, which you can set as an option within Email with Options).

At the moment the Approval action requires that the users be Office 365 licensed users.
