Excel Run Script - 502 Bad Gateway

Have a flow which sends an array of objects to be sorted by their date using an office script. Was working fine for months until two hours ago started recieving the below errors. We haven't any significant changes I'm aware of in the past two hours that may have caused this:

{
  "error": {
    "code"502,
    "source""australia-001.azure-apim.net",
    "clientRequestId""xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxx",

    }
  }

Everything is working slowly, all scripts from this morning, can you please solve the issue please??

Hi all, still seeing this 502 bug when I'm trying to populate values into an excel template.

Anyone else still struggling with this?  Was it ever reported to Microsoft?  Will have to raise a ticket as this is mission critical for my client.  Same 502, same request

"The server experienced an issue and couldn't run the script. Please try again in a few moments."

Surely office scripts have been around enough by now that we would know the cause of this??

Regards, Andy

@AndyB1000 - Do you happen to be using the `range.copyFrom()` in your code? If yes, the failures might be due to an on-going issue, and you can track its status in this post: Re: BadGateway 502 Excel connector failing after m... - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

Unfortunately not, the issue seems to be where I call the excel document (which has been dynamically created from a template), and run the script in the document via Logic App step.

We had a similar issue trying to create tables dynamically, which is apparently due to an issue in the step that does not correctly accept dynamic values for the document library and file location. Unfortunately  I was unable to get the suggested solutions to work.  Perhaps someone more technical than I can explain what the drive id is but I was never able to get the correct id using some of the workarounds provided, could this possibly be the same issue but under another automation 'step'?

@SoporteBPS - just to confirm, is this error from the "Run script" action?

I am getting the same issue when running an Office Script in a Onedrive excel workbook running a Sharepoint-based Office Script. It has been working until today.

Hi @Yutao , kindly help on above error, as if im running the script on Excel web, it does execute perfectly,
but then on scheduled cloud flow, it unable to trigger the script to run.
Im one of the owner of the Sharepoint, and i whom code the script to run on a specific worksheet, but then, the workbook is created by other team member, where the access set to public . Kindly help to point out if there's anything i missing out on

@Featte - sorry for the late reply. We ran into some temporary capacity issues earlier, but it should be addressed now. Can you please try again and see if you are still experiencing the same issue? Thanks!

The issue happened to me today, what can I do to fix it?

ofritamir_0-1702814470920.png

@ofritamir - based on the logs on our side for that error showing in your screenshot, it seems our service wasn't able to correctly load the specified script. Can you please double check if that script does exist in the specified location, is a valid Office Script file (make sure you can correctly open it in the Office Scripts editor in Excel on the web), and you have proper permission to it? Thanks!

@Yutao the script is valid and available in the SP.

I deleted it from the SP multiple times and re-uploaded the file but the still issue occurred.

I even try on 2 different environments and 2 different users and error message is the same.

@ofritamir Have you tried opening it up in the code editor in Excel for the web?

From the Automate tab, click on "All Scripts", then on the Code Editor task pane, click on "View more scripts" at the bottom to pop up the file picker. Browse and locate the script file, see if it can be successfully opened into the Code Editor.

Also, how did you get this .osts file originally? If you open this .osts file using a plain text editor (like Notepad), what do you see? It should be a JSON file, something similar to this:

{"version":"0.2.0","body":"function main(workbook: ExcelScript.Workbook) {\n    console.log(workbook.getWorksheet(\"Sheet1\").getRange(\"C3\").getText());\n    console.log(\"Hell oworld\");\n}","description":"","parameterInfo":"{\"version\":1,\"originalParameterOrder\":[],\"parameterSchema\":{\"type\":\"object\",\"default\":{},\"x-ms-visibility\":\"internal\"},\"returnSchema\":{\"type\":\"object\",\"properties\":{}},\"signature\":{\"comment\":\"\",\"parameters\":[{\"name\":\"workbook\",\"comment\":\"\"}]}}","apiInfo":"{\"variant\":\"synchronous\",\"variantVersion\":2}"}

Hi,

I am facing similar challenge. The office script runs well manually but if I try running it from power automate using "Run Script" action, i am getting Bad Gateway error:

{
  "error": {
    "code"502,
    "source""flow-apim-unitedstates-002-eastus-01.azure-apim.net",

      "logs"null
    }
  }
}

Getting the same error since last couple of days. Please help.

Hi @Yutao ,

Since 9 AM UK time I'm facing the same error with my flows, can you please tell if it an outage in this region or something wrong at my end only.

@Yutao Hi, I am also having this issue. It just started today.  The flow has been working consistently for ~5 months. This is the error message I am receiving on all 3 "run script from sharepoint library".  I have done all recommended fixes in this thread, but nothing seems to be helping. The scripts all work properly on excel online and the rest of the flow is working as intended.

Thanks in advance!

@Yutao - I can also report the same issue. The call to Office Scripts through the operation "GetSingleScript" is reporting BadGateway - error code: 502. I am on the same source as the report above me: europe-001.azure-apim.net. Flows have been working and using this operation without any problems for the past 8 months.

Hey! I was able to figure out my situation and I figured I would share in case it helps you.

Before today I had never noticed a "connected to" option underneath the editing area of the "Run Script" action. It was connected to another user's email, rather than mine. (Why? I don't know.) Once I switched it to mine, the action worked as intended.  I am also taking from a sharepoint library that myself and the other user both have the same access and permissions on, but this seems to be causing the issues I was having.

For any items that I had personally created (even if they were on SharePoint), I had to be connected. But for any items the other user had created, they had to be the connected user (you can pick and choose after connecting both.

Once I made all these connection changes, the flow ran as intended.

Worth a shot if you also have multiple users or files made by multiple users.

Best of luck!
