I am very new to this and teaching myself. It is proving rather difficult.... but I am working through each issue and cannot figure this one out. If anyone knows of a free site that explains all of the different choices for FLOW and the dynamic content and expressions, please send the links my way.
My flow is as follows:
1. When a file is created (properties only)
2. Start an approval process-- when the file is created in one place, it will send an e-mail to me asking me to approve the file (with the file link hopefully attached to the e-mail)
3. Condition- Response is equal to Approve
4. If yes- send an e-mail to the file creater stating that the file was approved. Then create a file in a different site folder
If no - Send an e-mail to the creater of the file and ask them to edit and re-upload.
That's the summary. I cannot figure out how to upload my screen shots. I am getting an orange circle with a pie piece on the "Start Approval" step and for the "Condition Step I have a Triangle icon with ! inside of it and the text in this area says "Not Specified"
Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? Where is the actual error? In the approval step or in the condition?
Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to provide. I am finding that none of the templates do exactly what I want so I have been taking pieces for each to create my own.
UPDATE: I found approvals waiting on my FLOW page, however, I did not receive any e-mails stating that I had documents to approve. I went in to look at them and I can see a link, but when I click on the link it does not open-- says the link is bad. What is wrong here?
When I approved the file, it did not create the file in the folder in the other site. It added a link that looked like my e-mail address that will not open. When I rejected a different test file, I did receive the e-mail stating it had been rejected.
How can I correct these errors in my flow to achieve the desired results for the file to be created on another sharepoint site and for the link in the approval e-mail to work?
Thank you!
Hi @ redhead7,
Could you please share a screenshot of the configuration of your flow?
Please refer to screenshot below to create the flow:
The flow would send the approval request as below:
The link in the request could would like to the file.
When the request is approval, the flow would run successfully as below:
The file would be created in another site as below:
Please let me know if your problem could be solved.
Regards,
Alice Zhang
I was able to get the flow to work the way I imagined it working but I had to add an additonal step (Get File Contents) between Send an Email and Create File.
Now I am wondering-- can the original file be attached in the e-mail that is sent back to the uploader of the file?
Hi @ redhead7,
Could you please explain more about the "can the original file be attached in the e-mail that is sent back to the uploader of the file?" that you mentioned?
Do you want to send the original file in an email?
If you want to send the original file in an email,I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in Microsoft Flow currently.
If you would like this feature to be added in Microsoft Flow, please submit an idea to Flow Ideas Forum:

Please let me know if your problem could be solved.

Hi everyone,
got my new approval flow working!
But I have to say it´s a bit tricky, as links into an approval mail are not active if you use outlook on your computer.
Links only works in outlook online (browser).
Is there a workaround for this?
ty Thomas
Any update on this? Really need to have links working on Outlook desktop version!
Hi to everyone,
for me it works with a small "workaround" as I use the "send E-Mail with options" solution and configure it as an HTML E-Mail.
Maybe that helps others...
/Thomas
@kcurran the issue is solved by updateding the installed version of Outlook
Scott
Hi @Oliandril,
I was wondering if you could post a picture of your example flow. I am requried to use Outlook for desktop for our approvals
Thanks in advance
