Hi all,
I'm hoping someone here has had some experience with something like this before and that they'd be able to assist me. I need some help in order to generate a custom UserID. Unfortunately I am not super experienced with PA yet so I have been struggling with this for quite a while now and I cannot find something online similar to what I need to achieve.
CURRENT PROCESS FLOW:
My flow consists of a MS Form that a user submits for approval. I added a "Get User Profile" action and a "Get Form Details" action in my flow to capture all the necessary attributes I need in order to create the (15 Character) UserID.
From the 2 x actions I have listed, I will use the Submission Time and the Nickname as shown in the screenshots.
Action: 1
Attribute: 1 SubmissionTime (6 chars - I will use Date ONLY)
Action: 2
Attribute: 2 Nickname (7chars ONLY)
Users List in SP:
Basically, I have a limit on the amount of Forms that can be submitted in a single day, and that limit is 99.
OBJECTIVE:
1) I need to implement an action or perhaps a counter that will allow me to keep track of each daily Form submission? Basically each time a new Form is submitted over the period of 1 day, I want to track the Form number which should range from zero or one 00 - 01 only until 99 for every new day.
2) I need the Form number to reset/start from zero or one 00 or 01 every day (24hrs).
3) Then I need to concat the formNumber that ranges between (00 - 99 (2characters)) with my form submissionDate (6characters) and user Nickname (7characters) - I would like to use this as my (15 Character) UserID that I would like to generate.
Does anyone know if it possible to somehow implement this and how could I go about achieving it?
Your response is appreciated.
Solved! Go to Solution.
@Electr0Nucleu5 create one more column as counter in your SP list. Once user submit response- Flow will trigger then initialize one variable type int with value 01. Now you have to find Max value from counter column. for this use this post-Microsoft Flow – Find Min or Max Value | Data Awareness Programme (dataap.org)
once you get max value, increment your variable by max value this will add 01 in your max value.
Also store this new max value against to user in your SP list for next run.

@Electr0Nucleu5 You can achieve this but i have one query how do you manage entries after 99 count for 2 digits?
Please 'Thumbs Up' the posts that helped you and 'Accept as Solution' if my post answered your question.
@Hardesh15, Basically there won't ever be more than 99 form submissions entries over the period of 1day, at most it might be round about 20 to 30 but I would like to set it to an overexaggerated number just for incase, hence the reason for 99.
@Electr0Nucleu5 So what is the challenge here? You can concatenate these 3 and store it on SharePoint List.
For simplicity, Use 3 compose for each part of UserID then concatenate it in another compose so that you can have visibility what flow is actually doing.

Hi@Hardesh15, so the challenge here is that I don't know HOW to implement a counter that increments on each form submission, and I would also need this counter to reset back to zero on each new day?
@Electr0Nucleu5 Okay. See you need to store this counter in your SP list so that you can increase it for next run.
Do you have all users details in your SP list including email?
Please 'Thumbs Up' the posts that helped you and 'Accept as Solution' if my post answered your question.
Yes, I do have a list with all user details, particularly the users - (Nickname, Name, Surname, Email Address)

Hi @Hardesh15 , sorry for my late response here.
Thank you for the above mentioned method, was a bit of a struggle to implement but got it to work.
Greatly appreciated, thank you
