I would like to create an attachment-to-folder automation

Hello everyone and thank you for your future help,

I would like to create via power automate, an automation that will retrieve an attachment then copy it to a folder depending on the sender, knowing that I would like to do this on several emails that arrive.

Eexample:

I receive 20 emails with one attachment per day from 20 different senders, I would like each attachment to be automatically copied into the corresponding folder.

Hi @Mguend 

You might consider using a switch for this, but it's limited to 16 cases and you mention that there are 20+.  So, instead we can use an object {}.

Here we have a document library with 2 folders (yours will have more of course).

We can setup a switch in a compose with the email as the key and the path as the value.

For example: 

{
"AliB365@gmail.com":"/Shared Documents/AliB365",
"MrSmith@gmail.com":"/Shared Documents/MrSmith"
}

We can then query the path from the compose based on the from with the following expression:

outputs('Compose')?[triggerOutputs()?['body/from']] and the path will change dynamically based on the from address.

If you want to have a default for new addresses, you can use coalesce which will return the default path for any email that is not found.

coalesce(outputs('Compose')?[triggerOutputs()?['body/from']],'/Shared Documents/DefaultPath')

When filling in the path of [Create file], if the path is not found, a corresponding path will be created.

Thank you for your answer, I don't want to use sharapoint, the attachments will directly copy a directory of a VM (file system) in those shares there are several folders (XX1, XX2...)

Do you mean: 20 folders corresponding to 20 senders already exist in the system?

If yes, try customizing an array

[

{ "From" : "aaa@test.com",

  "folder": "xx1"

},

{ "From" : "bbb@test.com",

  "folder": "xx2"

}........

]

Then use the [filter array] to filter out the folder paths that match From. Then dynamically enter the folder path and create the file

Hi @Mguend 

If you apply the logic I have demonstrated to the local create file, it will work exactly the same as the SharePoint create file. No need to overcomplicate with a filter array.

From the screenshots you provided, there is no problem.
In order to avoid some accidents,
You can write the mailbox as your own mailbox, and then send an email to yourself for testing.
