Microsoft Flow running slowly

Has anyone else noticed their flows running more slowly than usual?  For the past week or so, my flows have been running very slowly when they previously did not do so, sometimes taking ten times longer to run.  The 'My flows' web page is also very slow to load, and I frequently get the 'Aw snap' page when a page fails to load.  This has happened in Chrome and in Firefox on two different internet connections.  I have also noticed different changes occuring in Flow, and assumed the delays and failures were due to maintenance on Microsoft's end.  Is there a reason for the delays and problems with the site and flows, and is there a projected end date?  I have a flow that maintains a Sharepoint list of 200-300 items with several updates throughout the day, and it has been rendered useless lately, however my other flows still run as they previously did.  I would appreciate any information about a timeline for maintenance and these delays so that I can decide whether I need to rebuild my Sharepoint site and lists to avoid this slowly running flow.  Thank you!

This was due to throttling by the flow runtime because of too many 'when item is created or modified' actions being started per 5-minute interval on a free service plan.  It can be worked around by distributing/splitting the work across multiple flows or upgrading to a P2 service plan, which will put the flow run execution into the next higher performance profile.

I'm gathering the necessary info from internal teams to update the Flow Limits and Configuration page to list the actions per minute limits for free, P1 and P2 plans.

I'm also working with PMs to improve the UX so that you all can expand a flow run and see a clearer breakdown of where the time was spent in the actions AND see very time-consuming things like waits due to throttling, etc.

Hi @JBSF,

Does your problem still exists.

I have made a test on my side and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

Please check if your flow still run slowly and please let me know if the issue still exists.

Best regards,

Alice

Hey,

I'm having this problem too. My flows are slow to load up and when editing the actions take for every to load (if they load at all)

@JBSF I am also having this problem, I noticed it about a week ago.  Does anyone know the cause?

I've been experiencing the issue as well, and today has basically become unusable with the number of times that flow keeps crashing.

Same here, I've been trying to build a multi step authorisation Flow but testing and waiting for it to run is becoming impossible.

Yes, I am sorry, I am still having this problem.  There were a few days last week where the site ran smoothly, but today I am back to waiting several minutes for the 'My flows' page to load, or for options to be presented when adding an action to a flow.  I have reworked my Sharepoint site to rely on Flow as little as possible as a result, but there are some actions that are vital that need Flow to run.

@v-yuazh-msft do you know any more regarding the issue?

The Microsoft Flow area is also very slow at my end, and have been for the past week..

Hello,

I am still have trouble with slow Flows on my site.  Even with a drastically reduced flow that does not have many steps or calcuations, the program is running too slowly today to meet our needs.  Runs that usually last 7-10 seconds are taking 5-10 minutes or more, and I am frequently having to stop using the flow to allow it time to catch up.  Is there something going on with Flow today that would cause it to run slowly, and is there a time frame that this will be resolved in?  Or, if there is no reason for the flow to be running slowly, should I reconfigure my Sharepoint site so that it does not rely on Flow for updates througout the day?

JBSF,

I'm an engineer on the flow team.  To help me narrow it down, could you provide me with the url in your browser when you navigate to a flow run that is taking minutes to execute instead of seconds?  Send it to jewelden at microsoft dot com (or here if you're ok with that).

Thanks,

-Jeff

jnikolich,

Could you provide flow properties page url for one of the flows you edited that was slow?

 AnnaBrodnicki,

Could you provide one of your flow details page urls?

jaylaa,

Could you provide the flow details page url for the flow that is crashing for you?

oliverbusk, could you provide one of your flow properties page urls to help diagnose what is slow for you?

I am also experiencing very slow execution times for my Flows. One of my Flows just sends an email when the trigger condition is met (a SP List field/property change) yet it requires over 5 minutes to run.

@jewelden - I sent you an email with the URL of the page that uses my simple send email flow. Any insight will be appreciated.

Investigated this and found that the Office365 connector was getting 504 Gateway timeout and several 60 sec retries when attempting to send mail (Send_an_email action).  I opened a livesite ticket on the connector team to investigate.

Jeff - Thanks for following up on this issue.  My corporate O365 plan is not using the free plan but the "Flow for Office 365" plan and I have been testing some new Flows and must have reached the thresholds for my account.  This is helpful to identify that my application requires a higher performance level than our current account can provide.

Hi

This happens again today. It's present on:

"My Flows" page
Inside a specific flow - when I try to save it says "request timed out"
