NULL data type error in Power automate while parsing Jason Output from Graph API

Hello Folks,

I am having issues parsing Jason values. I am trying to call Graph API & get Announcement messages & trying to save in SharePoint list. I'll show my flow details, but here is the error I get:

The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each_2' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@body('Parse_JSON')?['body']?['value']' is of type 'Null'. The result must be a valid array.

Calling https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/admin/serviceAnnouncement/messages successuully, in Graph explorer & in the Flow. I can download the Jason data, while creating the Flow. Till there its Ok.

Then I created the JSON Schema by using the downloaded Jason value & using it in "Generate from Sample option". Here is the schema:

This is how my flow looks like

Please let me know, what all changes I can make. I added "type": [ "array", "null"] value in the Schema for some of the values, which I suspect could be looking for NULL data. But the error continued.

I can try the solution mentioned above, but where all should I make these changes.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hi @y2kardell ,

I'm the screenshot is not properly visible, but from what I can see, you're using 2 apply to each loops - why is that the case? you can get all the announcements from the values array which would be only 1 apply to each loop.

Also, in the second loop, you're having the input as "body/value" - but the body property of announcement body does not have a "value" property - which is throwing the error. It's basically searching for property in a way like this - http output -> value array item -> body property -> value property, which does not exist

You can try to clear out the apply to each loops and try to do it again.

Hope this helps 🙂

Hi Shaik,

Thanks for your reply. Actually I was trying to filter message parameters in the second Apply to each, because its automatically showing up as soon as you add data to compose or any other parameter.

Even then it gives same error.

Here is the sequence:

Deleted apply second & creating again:

Moment I select a property here, as marked in Red, it the second Apply to each adds automatically:

Like this:

Not sure, where its going wrong:

Thanks

Hi @arindam40 ,

I can see that you have manually added the first apply to each action, I'd suggest you not to add any "Apply to each action" manually, rather just use the compose and add whatever you want into that compose and the flow would automatically wrap your compose action in a loop when it's required.

Hope this helps 🙂

Kind Regards,

Shaik Sha

Hi Shaik,

Actually, no.. I am not adding that apply 2 action manually.

All I am doing here is, Select the 'value' & then add an action & select Compose from Data Operations & try adding inputs. Apply 2 was getting added.

But this could be due to some previous operations, so I deleted part of the flow & created Apply each option again. This time it was good. I added Compose & tried to pull 2 properties, ID & Title. But similar error again:

The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@body('Parse_JSON')?['body']?['value']' is of type 'Null'. The result must be a valid array.

Hi @arindam40 ,
