Need help in dataverse using automate flow

Hi All,

This is the 1st time i'm using dataverse table using power automate. I got struck in middle of development

It would be great if someone helps me in logic.

I created 2 Dataverse Table:

on below screenshot: i sent an email with attachment for 2 department which its (IT and EEE ) , Department is lookup column

Once they validate the attachment and they will respond back to same email with body contains :Approved(Keyword)

My question:

1) How does the flow get to know which department its from that email : department(FROM)

2) how to update the column with Department(From) in approval received from

3)Once i got the respond from 2 department then i need to mark the status is completed in the status column, How does the bot knows that we got an email from 2 department or not.

I created the flow till here.

I tried concat(varemails),(dept) but getting incorrect result: instead of EEE it got updated IT. I'm not able to update the 2 emails in this column when the bot runs 2nd time its gets override the values in approval email received from column.

1) Assuming the department has been entered into your AD and synced to Azure AD you would use the Office365User connector "Get User Profile v2" to submit the user's email and get back information that includes their department.

2) Once you have the department name you can concat it and store it.  If the approval will come in from multiple departments than you need to get whatis in the field now and include that in the concat when you set the new field.

3) If the flow is running and there is a department listed in the Approval received then you are adding the second approval.  In that case update the status to complete.

Thank you for reply.

I tried in different ways wherein initialized the variable and using split function to split the email id separately. 

I was trying this last 1 hour and looks like my output is getting as empty array [ ] . I'm not sure where its getting wrong. I tried using apply to each instead of filter array but its updating the value is like 3 times as my array has 3 values.

It looks like your second table has a single field that contains both the email and the department.  That table should have two fields one for the email and one for the department.  Then you can filter on the email.  In your case you would need to filter the array using contains instead of is equal to.

I agree with you we have 2 tables where the department and email id is maintained separately but the one which i used for tracking so i add department and email id together. I tried in that way and i got the result for 1 email id and the other one i got the error message. Is that problem in the tool or any logical error?I'm attaching both the screenshot:

As I said if you want to use them together in a single field then your filter array needs to use contains not is equal to.

Thank you for your help!

I changed the logic and I got the required output like this IT(ashakumaricse@gmail.com).

I will get the emails for other 2 depts as well so i need to update both of them email id in the same column

but this logic when i tried its getting overriding. I tried concat(appendvar,newvariable) but its updating the same value twice like eg IT(ashakumaricse@gmail.com)IT(ashakumaricse@gmail.com). Could you please help me i need to store the previous value as well as current value. Please help me how to implement ths.

Stop using Split() and stop changing your logic.  All you need to do is filter using Contains instead of Equals.  But you keep ignoring that advice and changing things around trying to do it the way you want to do it.
