Need help - simple Power Automate cloud flow was working and now is not

I am a novice with Power Automate; however, I was able to build a simple cloud flow (Recurrence and Run Flow created by PW Desktop (yes, the appropriate premium license is present). The tricky part is that the desktop flow runs in unattended mode so it's hard to troubleshoot any issues. The desktop flow runs on a dedicated PC with nothing else running on the PC.

 

Steps Taken::

1) I have tested the desktop flow and it runs without issue.

2) I changed the schedule time-trigger to run a few minutes in the future, logged off (unattended) and the cloud flow ran without issue.

3) I reset the cloud flow time-trigger for 5am and waited for it to run overnight. It failed with the error message - "The run has exceeded the queue waiting time limit. Consider allocating more machines or spreading desktop flow runs to optimize wait time in the queue." I've researched the error and haven't found a solution. If I look under MONITOR, there are no work queues defined. I've clicked on "fix my flow" but that doesn't refer to anything helpful.

 

I am at a complete loss for what to do. I would appreciate any help that can be suggested. I've attached relevant screens.

Tom - thank you for taking the time to respond. You mentioned one attribute (timeout after 6 hours waiting on 'something') that is a symptom of the flow failure. I'm not sure I fully understand the OnBlockError notion but modifying the desktop flow to snap desktop and save makes sense - I'll try that today. Thank you

What has really helped me with unattended runs is to put the entire desktop flow in an on block action.  Then on error, I run a subflow that takes a picture of the screens and saves to OneDrive, email it, etc, etc (also closes all applications, broswers, etc, etc).  But you can get a better understanding what is the hang-up.  Here's one common issue:

 

* You may have a step that waits for window content or browser content.  If there's a miss there, your flow could be stuck on a step waiting for 6 hours until it times out.  

 

Here's something that has really helped me resolve and test my unattended flows.  In troubleshooting, I will add a 2 or 3 minute delay at the very beginning of the desktop flow.  Then I run the cloud flow and see it move from

queued to running status.  Next I will RDP into that machine and actually watch the flow run (you can RDP into that machine after the unattended desktop flow has connected/started).  So the 2 or 3 minute delay gives me time to see it running and on the first step (the delay) and gives me a change to get logged in and watch.  Between capture a screenshot of the last error screen and watching flows run, I've been able to resolve 99.9% of my errors.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
