New Power Automate - Copy / Clipboard options

Has anyone figured out in the new editing experience how to copy steps and add them to the clipboard?

Pasting is very limited. I can't even paste from one email to another, it simply won't accept the command.

Also, if by any chance you've solved how to pull back the HTML editor for Outlook Send an email, I'd really appreciate it.

This new update is horrendous.

The functionality has been added. You can copy an action by right-clicking an action. When clicking the plus-icon to add a new action, you'll see the option 'Paste an action'. See screenshots below.

I agree with you. The feature is missing, I reverted back to the classic designer just for the copy feature.

If my suggestion helped you, please give it a Thumbs up and Mark it as a Solution so that it can benefit others in the community.

@rpd-uni

I don't think it allows copying and pasting at the moment. You can try using copilot if it is available and ask it to copy maybe.

Cheers!

@rpd-uni I can't seem to find the clipboard either, and unfortunately the new designer has been enabled as default on my tenant settings (I don't have access to change tenant settings in my organization).

If you still have this issue, I suggest reverting back to the classic designer, if the new designer is default and you don't have access to change tenant settings like me, there's a workaround as the "Edit" function still allows for classic designer.

I just create a flow in the new designer, initialize a variable which allows me to save the flow, then I re-open the flow in the classic designer through the "Edit" option.

This should also solve your issue, with getting access to the clipboard. Hope this helps.

Best regards,

AndreasN

Not sure if you have this option @AndreasN, but I was able to switch back to classic edit with my default set to the new designer. Try clicking the three dots on the banner and select "switch to classic designer".

I agree. Not having the copy to clipboard feature in the new edit mode is a deal breaker for me.

Thank you for  identifying  that  you can  still  get into "CLASSIC"  by  clicking  the  3 greyed out  dots top right as it was  driving me  crazy  - New  Designer is  absolute 💩😡

Me and all my students just did this exact thing. We added a compose/variable just to save and switch back to Classic view.

I was worried I would find a thread agreeing that they did not ad the copy/paste feature.

This is me counting to 10 😡

The best part is when I revert back and it freezes where it could have assisted me in the old designer..

I've created an idea to try and get copy/paste into the new designer: https://ideas.powerautomate.com/d365community/idea/545cccd6-6c88-ee11-a81c-6045bdbcd0a8. Votes are appreciated.

Why are they changing everything.  If it is not broke.....LEAVE IT ALONE!

I know what you mean, it seems that Microsoft build up list of things they need to fix, but instead of doing just that they then use it as an opportunity to completely redesign the interface, which brings new faults with it and is completely unfamiliar to most users.

Dear Microsoft, as per the OP, please just fix things that need fixing and leave the rest alone.

Thanks @NPPlatform,

I am glad it is back in some capacity. However, the list view of the actions that are copied to the clipboard is far more favorable, in my opinion.

Have you checked to see if the user can copy apply to each, scope, or any other action that contains a group of actions?

@mkilp91 Good question, but no, I haven't. Most of my flows can't be opened in the new designer anyway, because they contain a comment or too many actions. So I can't quickly find a flow that can be opened in the new designer and at the same time is complex enough to try complex scenario's.

@NPPlatform I have the same issue. I will setup a test flow in the new designer to check this functionality, and then report back.

@NPPlatform I can confirm that looping or container actions cannot be copied. It appears that the copy/paste functionality is limited to singular actions. I tried this with an apply to each action and a scope action. Neither presented me with an option to copy when right-clicked.

The update is a step in the right direction. However, the sacrifice of workflow features in classic designer outweighs the potential benefits gained by using the new designer/co-pilot.

I hope this helps. Here are some screenshots to prove my findings:

@mkilp91 Thanks for trying and for the update. The classic designer definitely is the more appropriate designer at the moment.
