Parse Json failed

Hi All,

i know this may have been a repetitive question in regards to Parse Json failed error "Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Parse_JSON' inputs at line '0' and column '0': 'Required property 'content' expects a value but got null. Path ''.'."

However in my scenario, i have managed to follow these options:

in the form i have added a section before upload attachment question if the request needs an attachment "Yes" or "No" and branched it accordingly. i have tested the flow both last two questions as "Required" option turned On and off but flow is still failing when the user dont want to have the attachment to be uploaded

form:

Automate flow:

see the attached file as well

any solution what needs to be done to overcome this repeat failing flow issue?

looking forward to hearing from you all

thanking you all in advance

After several trial, test and errors finally got the hold of how to overcome the issue of seeing an email to send out without an attachment

had to use the compose option with a length not equal to "0" condition and needed to amend few changes after the ParseJson and applied several other condition as per form information

Hey @YanZZah

Yea attachment in form gives error many times.

Lets start with the basic solution for your above scenario.

Go to your parse json.

1st method:

In the schema, I want you to remove Required Array from there:

Sundeep_Malik_0-1686030301585.png

Remove it:

Sundeep_Malik_1-1686030324775.png

2nd Method:

Then second thing is, in the content column, write something like this:

"content": {
                "type": ["string","null"]
            }

There could be any other type than string also for the content, dont directly copy the above. Keep your old type and just add null after that.

This will ensure if content is coming null, it will accept null.

Not exactly sure this will work or not. This is the most basic solution for parse json. If it does not work reply.

I found a previous solution related to attachments and how to deal them with parse json. You can try the solution in the following link as well.

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Power-Automate/Parse-JSON-file-Attached-in-email/td-p/16...

I hope this helps 🙂

Hi Sundeep,

Thank you for your response on this matter

I have actually gone through the process by following your methods/steps but somehow the end result was not successful. seems like either i haven't done something correct or i have misunderstood it completely.

Not too sure if the mentioned methods are 2 steps process or ay method can do the trick

This is how i went with the approach of adding and deleting the content, see below in Red as highlighted that i have added and orange highlighted that i have removed but system throws error

This is the coding i am using at the Parse json step

{
    "type""array",
    "items": {
        "type""object",
        "properties": {
            "name": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "link": {
                "type": [
                    "string",
                    "null"
                ]
            },
            "id": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "type": {},
            "size": {
                "type""integer"
            },
            "referenceId": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "driveId": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "status": {
                "type""integer"
            },
            "uploadSessionUrl": {}
        },
        "required": [
            "name",
            "link",
            "id",
            "type",
            "size",
            "referenceId",
            "driveId",
            "status",
            "uploadSessionUrl"
        ]
    }
}

Do i have to add "["string","null"]" for all the content likes of "link", "Reference id", "status", "name" etc?

kindly advise

Regards

Hi Sundeep,

Also, tried these two options with no success:

            "uploadSessionUrl": {}
         },
         "content": {
             "type": [
                "number",
                "null"
            ]
         },
        "required": [
            "name",

AND

            },
            "uploadSessionUrl": {}
         },
         "content": {

         },
        "required": [
            "name",
            "link",

Not sure where to add this conditon and on which level as my flow has condition for Business units if picks sends out the email to one address and if not will send the email to a different email address
