Power Automate Outlook Create Event -- Dynamically Set Calendar ID based on Condition?

I've got a simple Power Automate Outlook Create Event flow that creates a calendar event to a set calendar. I want to change this flow so that the event is set to a calendar depending on the user's department. So, if in PowerApps the user's department is 'Tech' it will trigger the flow to create an event in the 'Tech Calendar'. If they are in 'Finance' it will create an event in the 'Finance Calendar'.

I could do this all in PowerApps with a separate flow for each department, but I was hoping there is a way to do this all in one flow.

Is there any way to create an event in different calendars based on dynamic content from PowerApps?

Hi @powerappspro1

You can make use of "Get calendars" action to get all the calendars of a user. From the power apps, if you can pass the calendar name, then you can filter the calendars list based on that parameter. After filter operation, we can get the corresponding calendar id which can be passed to create an event.

Here are the steps:

I have used an expression to collect the calendar id in the compose action:

Expression used for collection calendar id:

first(body('Filter_array'))?['id']

Pls check if this helps you in designing your flow 🙂

Hi @powerappspro1

One way to do in a single flow us based on each department value, create a switch statement based on department values and different cases for different departments where each case represents creating event in the respective calendar 🙂

I'm trying to do something similar by creating an array of calendar IDs and, depending on the input in the Forms from the user, I want my flow to dynamically change the calendar ID in the "Create event v4" for Outlook.

I already know how to find the proper entry in my array and I also know how to get a calendar ID (I used a "get all calendars" action and found them in there).

Does the format need to be changed for it to work? It doesn't seem to accept it as a simple string and always gives me an error:

The specified object was not found in the store.
clientRequestId: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
serviceRequestId: YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I made sure to keep the "=" at the end of the ID, since removing it results in another error:

Id is malformed.
clientRequestId: YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
serviceRequestId: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I'm starting to wonder if it's even possible to use the "create event v4" using a string and not picking an option from the dropdown menu!
