Problem with comparing strings

Very frustrating issue 

I have two sharepoint lists, each list contains a GUID column. 

Some of List 1's rows are copied to list 2, so list 2 items have the same GUID as list 1.

I want to update list 2 when list 1 changes, so I use a condition to find matches between items on the two lists by finding common GUIDs. 

The problem is, I can see that GUIDs are same between list 1 and list 2, but the flow condition always says they are false. 

This is so strange. They look exactly the same. 

Both GUID sharepoint columns are set as string. 

How do I properly use the Condition connector to evaluate String data from sharepoint?

Can you tell how you're generating the GUID?

Where and how are you comparing the strings?

Are you using the "Exact" function or "=="?

GUID generated by using the GUID() expression

I am just evaluating using the Flow condition connector, pleasae see the attached picture.

I am using the 'equal to' condition to compare the strings

so the two GUID are the same, but the evaluation says they are not the same ... weird

Try storing the GUIDs in variables before comparing them and then compare the variables.  I think something is off and its actually trying to compare them as GUIDs and not Strings.  I did a quick prototype with strings variables and the comparison works for me.

I will try your suggestion, can you give me some pointers on how I can store the GUIDs in variables? I only started using flow so dont know much about these more advanced concepts.

It should be just a matter of initializing a variable of type string and setting the value using the dynamic content field that holds the GUID.  Here's a screenshot of my POC where you can see I generate a random Guid() and store it in the variable.

I guess it maybe has some formate change happen on the column GUID after you copy list A to list B, how about you use the String() function to format them, just like following:
