Retrieving & Transferring the Contents of the Image Type Column in SharePoint via PowerAutomate

Use Case: Needed an automated process to move several records from an active list, to an archive list, every morning. Scheduled Flow >Get Items Connector > Create Items Connector

The Problem? One of the columns is of Image Type which does not show up in the Create Item connector.

Could not find many posts that adequately covered this process, most that I found about it covered either one process or the other, rarely both.

A lot of them also only incorporated screenshots and not examples of the text that were copy/paste-able

So writing up this post so it exists for others who may need something similar in the future.

Here are the steps you can follow to achieve this.

First off, the simple part

Start the flow, grab the items, initialize a variable, then loop through and do all the work.

Here for anyone who needs it is the initialization step

Now on to the meat & potatoes

Now everyone probably knows this already but the value at top of the Apply to each is this

outputs('Get_items')?['body/value']

The First Send HTTP (marked 2 in image sorry its out of order)

_api/Web/Lists/getByTitle('OriginSPListName')/items?$filter=ID eq items('Apply_to_each_2')?['ID']&$select=originSPcolumnName

after this we have our first Set Variable, we will use same variable in both because it can be overwritten

So set your variable to

first(body('Send_an_HTTP_request_to_SharePoint_2')['d']['results'])

AT THIS POINT do a run of your flow, so you can copy the information created by this step

Then go back and add your Parse JSON

in the content put your variable, and in the schema click generate from sample, paste what you copied in, then let it do its thing

it should look like this when done

we can then Set our variable one more time, but this time its value will be 

body('Parse_JSON')?['originalSPColumnName']

where you replace originalSPColumnName with the name of your image type column

Now we move on to our final step Send an HHTP request

Your headers here will be

{
  "content-type": "application/json;odata=verbose",
  "accept": "application/json;odata=verbose",
  "If-Match": "*",
  "X-HTTP-Method": "MERGE"
}

and the body is

{

                }

and there you have it. This will get your image type column transferred
