Time in SharePoint is 1 Hour Ahead

Hi,

I am using a flow to create sharepoint items (clubs for a club booking app). This was working perfect last week before daylight saving time took effect, since then an hour is being added to the item in my SharePoint list? The outputs from the flow is correct using the convert time zone feature but for some reason an hour is being added in my sharepoint list. Please see some pictures of my flow below which shows the correct time in the outputs and then the final picture of the item when open in the app with the 1 hour added?

Could you please advise on this? All regional settings are correct for the SharePoint site.

I read something recently that it was all to do with formatting of the date time and if it had a Z on the end of it or not.  Due to looking at this on my mobile I cannot see the images properly so do some digging on the net to find out a little more.

Hi @Andrew_J ,

Thank you for this, however I think the output will be correct in the flow but when the item appears on the SharePoint list it will still be 1 hour ahead? Is this because flow works everything out in UTC?

@BS10

I think it is, but I know I have date/times in a SP List that have the time part in GMT/BST.  My list sets meeting times for multiple meetings throughout the year of varing types.  I entered the date/time function using the date/time list item into the the SP List.

Andrew_J_3-1712324137778.png

Then I took the above and converted the start and end time as per the below:

Andrew_J_0-1712323606929.png

Then updated the item:

Andrew_J_1-1712323726599.png

The SP List was then as follows:

Andrew_J_4-1712324255739.png

You will see all the Start and End times have a Z at the end, this is what is used to send the meeting invites out.  Z = UTC but some how this seemed to take acount of the change from GMT/BST.  Can you test your flow for GMT?BST events.

Are there any take aways from the above that can help with changes to your flow.

Regards,

Andrew

Hi @Andrew_J,

Thank you for your response. Sorry just to confirm, are the regional settings for your SharePoint site set as Dublin, Lisbon & London etc?

In my flow in the ‘create item’ property I use the addDays function for each club (one for start time and another for end time). Within this I manually use the utcnow() as the timestamp and I set the start time as 13:15 for the club, this was working perfectly before the clocks changed for daylight savings time so now the club is appearing as 14:15 in the SharePoint list but the output in the flow is still 13:15. I suppose I could try setting the timestamp as convertfromutc(utcnow(),’GMT Standard Time’, ‘HH:mm’) to see if this makes a difference. I have tried some other slightly different options but it still sets the time as 1 hour ahead in the SharePoint list compared to the output in the flow.

@Andrew_J

Apologies I forgot to add - I have also tested setting the start date and time column as current time (utcnow) and it adds another hour onto the time, I also tried setting this as the converted time like you shown above and it still adds another hour on from the converted time zone output too?

Just remove the "Convert time zone" action.

PA connectors expect the time values in UTC and the application (here Sharepoint) is responsible for adjusting its view to the correct time zone.

@Chriddle ,

Thank you for your response, so if I am using the addDays property to set a specific date and time, do I need to adjust which timestamp I am using in the addDays property? Currently I am using utcnow but this is adding 1 hour onto the time I set on the item in the SharePoint list.

The return value of function addDays() (e.g. addDays(utcNow(), 1)) is an ISO 8601 formatted date string that works fine as SP input.

If Sharepoint does not show the current time (plus 1 day and in your time zone), you have to check the Sharepoint's local settings.

@Chriddle

I’ll check this, thank you. In my case I have one of the items set to below for the start date and time:

addDays(utcNow(),3,’yyyy/MM/dd 13:15’) as I would always like the club to start at 13:15, I have checked the regional settings for the SharePoint site and it is set correctly. I wonder if the issue is happening because the flow thinks I am hard coding the time to be 13:15 and the SharePoint site is then converting it to be 1 hour ahead as we are currently in British Summer Time which is 1 hour ahead of UTC?
